With a 4 hour drive to any family I would like to spend Christmas with OH and baby (we have a gorgeous Christmas outfit - red rompersuit with a hood and christmas pud on the front!). However, OH always prefers spending it with his family as he gets bored with just me on Christmas Day. Doesn't help that he spreads present opening throughout the day so ends up opening main presents in the evening so has nothing to 'play' with all day and I'm [STRIKE]normally [/STRIKE] always cooking so he gets bored!

    Big kid!

We'll be flying with a 5-6 month old at Christmas

All being well, we'll be flying with a 2-3 month old at Christmas, which should be fine as we managed it with the other two at the same kind of age. Fortunately its only an hour flight, but actually they seem to travel very easily at that age, so long as you remember to feed them on the way up and down so their ears don't pop!

right ive been told i can pick up £200 now and the rest will go in my back tomorrow x

Personally I'd tell them that 'it's not good enough, you expect to be paid on x date (whether it's weekly or monthly) from now on and should this problem occur again then you will be seeking legal advice.' I would also point out that it is not fair for a new mum to be expected to return to her place of work to collect money - if you use taxis or buses tell them that next time you will charge it to them as an expense.

Glad you got some money though!

It's good to see how much you will get paid if you get paid monthly as £123 per week means diddly squat to me! I work in calendar months!
The first month threw me as it's 3 weeks full pay (I'm finishing 20.09.09) and then £700 odd quid for the 8 days from 20th Sept to 30th Sept but only showed the £700! Bear in mind it's gross not net - you'll still pay NI, tax and pension contributions from the figure it gives you but obviously not a lot. I think I've put down an income of £480 for each month based on gross of £540, will be supplemented by £80 Child benefit, £80 CTC and £380 from my savings. Should be manageable.

SM - I told you that would get them into gear ;)

thanks for that - I had forgot to factor that in. I'm still undecided what to do about my pension contributions (and it doesn't help that my boss hasn't got back to me about what options I do have - but I am sure I could choose to put them on hold)

  • Thanks NMS - looks v formal - I see you have to enter names etc as if you were the employer - does this info go anywhere or is it fine to use as a casual enquiry?
