WM- Have you thought about getting your dr to sign you off for a few days while OH is in hospital? I'm not normally someone who would take advantage of sick leave, but in this heat I don't know how you are doing it, and you don't want to run yourself into the ground with exhaustion.

Harley- that had crossed my mind but that would mean my Gran can't go either which I would feel awful about. She's 97 but obviously the can't be @rsed to drive down and get her.

    Good luck Mollie.

You're right, it would be a shame for your gran to miss out too but I think I would lay on a huge guilt trip and point the finger of blame firmly at stepmother.

Very few people try to manipulate me anymore, most of them have learned the hard way that it ends up making their lives more difficult in the end, not mine.

How about if you forwarn your gran saying that you feel manipulate and would she prefer to go at a time when she could see her son instead of just the interloper.

Oooh, can you tell i'm in a snotty mood. lol

Okay, can you ladies please help me out with a difficult situation. In May the wife of one of the guys on my husband's shift had a baby, who very sadly died shortly after birth. He was full term, born a day after his due date and to be honest I don't know what he died from- hubby has been very hazy on the details. Obviously they are devastated, but are both now back at work. I don't really know either of them- I had met him twice and her once but both fairly briefly.

Next Saturday another colleague is having a BBQ and they will both be there and I just feel so awkward being pregnant. I presume they both know I am pregnant, but I'm so worried I'll say something insensitive, moan about being pregnant or something and upset them. If they were good friends, I'd of course see how they wanted me to approach it but as I don't really know them it's difficult.

To be honest I am sorely tempted to give it a miss. I know it's difficult for OH too, but at least he doesn't have a big baby bump to remind them of there loss. It must still be so raw for them both, would it be better to leave it this time? Sorry for another moan, but this is really playing on my mind, and I have no idea what I'd want in their shoes......

GISI, I have been in the same situation with a family member a few years ago. I went but did not talk about the pregnancy unless asked a specific question which I answered then moved on. Eventually she came to me and asked about how I was, again I answered and said I was sorry for her loss and she said she was relieved that someone had said something, she then showed me photos and we talked about her baby for a bit. Then I went back to how I had been before.

I would add though that if you're not comfortable with the situation it would be better to just avoid it. You don't need the stress! X

MrsM, that's such a beautiful baby - she looks like a china doll or a baby model or something!

MTW - painless speedy labour vibes for you.

Elle - that's the best news I've heard all day - you must be so delighted.

Tia - if you're losing your mucus plug one day and leaking the next, should you perhaps check in with your midwife? Just a thought.

Not even a rural afternoon hiking around a small town in the back end of buttcrack in the summer heat helped with the evacuation of the infant. Husband tries very hard, but seems to have no concept of just how hard the going is when there's 20kg of extra weight stuck to your front and your feet are the size of watermelons. Then we barely missed one train back, went to grab a slice of pizza only to see the pizza seller picking veg off the pizzas and eating it, and ended up in Burger King. Where otherwise very sensible husband misunderstood my order and brought back a chili cheeseburger, which might be the worst thing I have ever eaten.

Home in a train carriage full of mildly belligerent army reservists, filled the baby bath with cold water and now sitting with my feet in it and the cat drinking from it (he's a dirty little horror, but he has kidney problems so anytime he drinks is ok with me). Not a sign of the Bellyfrog, although I have backache and period type pains - and shockingly huge feet. They've actually got what look like tiny blisters and stretch marks on them.
