Ah Glam, so i think I have this right.
New job with new employer.
That will mean you won't have enough time with new employer to acrue smp, but you would be entitled to maternity allowence - i thinkthis will mean you will loose the 6 weeks at 90% pay that you woud get if you stayed with current employer... i think!!!

Working 'continuously' usually means working for the same employer without a break. You do not need to work full time and part weeks count as full weeks.

So looks like I won't get SMP so will just be MA. Guess I'll be working right up now as well cos I won't have the 4 weeks annual leave because I am leaving early! Should get some A/L off my new employer though. Really need to look into this!
If you change jobs during your pregnancy, then you will not qualify for SMP because you must have worked for the same employer for 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the baby is due. However, you may qualify for Maternity Allowance.

I think MA vs SMP depends on your income. I get MA and it's 123.06 (or pretty close to that) per week. Will yu have any holiday to take before you leave your current job, Glam?
Why is all this maternity stuff so complicated? I'm trying to work out what I would be entitled to in terms of tax credits if I didn't go back to work after mat leave, but it's all so confusing for my baby brain. Can you tell I had a bad day at work today?!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

MA and SMP are the same per week the only difference is with SMP you get 6 weeks at 90%
The Hospital would offer 18 weeks at full pay and the guy that rang me today did say they may do that because I am still working for the NHS but I doubt it very much.

Nope, we're worse off on SMP as we have to pay tax and NI and you don't!
Oh, sorry - didn't realise. Although, I'm already paying NI contributions and tax separately due to being self employed. No in fact I might owe them a day!
So I'll have to give them 4 weeks notice but can't do that until I get the offer letter which they won't send til they get references through!
