I tend to buy the birthday presents for the year in the after-Christmas sales - and sometimes some of the Christmas presents too.
Christmas shopping's normally started in January and goes slowly as I see things till it's finished in mid-November. The last thing I always do is buy the wine, which happens in early November.
This year everything's done now, because I assumed I wouldn't want to be bothered shopping with a little baby. The only thing is that I'm now heavily involved in buying my OH's Christmas gifts to other people - my family and the nephews is about it, and the nephews I think are done!
Edit - Karen - I keep a list of people to buy for, and then what I've bought for them. That way I don't overbuy.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Glam - congrats on the job, shame about the GD though.Very excited that MTW is nowhere in evidence. (But not in that way!)
.
I'm still here!
I've been to see the midwife, babys head still not fully engaged, it's been almost fully engaged since 32 weeks now .
But she did do a sweep, but she said cervix is still not soft and didn't think it would do anything yet
I am bleeding now and have lost part of my plug, she thinks waters are intact, although they may be "trickling from around the back".
I have to go back next wednesday for another sweep if nothing happens in the mean time and if that doesn't work, I can be induced on the 11th July.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Glam - congrats on your job! Am I right in thinking you were already going to be doing a different job with your current employer, so is this a different one altogether? Or did I just make that up?!
Unlucky about the GD. I know nothing about this, but had a quick look on the web. Hopefully the diet isn't too strict. x0 -
Wow, it's quiet on here! Only took me a few minutes to catch up tonight.
Glam- congrats on the job and hope the GD doesn't cause you too many problems.
Molly, and others close to the end- I really feel for you. This week is tiring for a 22 week-er so it must be really tough for you.
Had a pants day at work. My boss's boss came in on a surprise visit and totally bawled me out about poor ordering. I admit we've run out of a fair few things last week, but that is because I was on holiday last week and I have spoken to and coached those who did the order on the importance of taking the weather into account at the moment...what else can I do:o? He also had no idea I am pregnant, which is really awkward, and to be honest makes me feel pretty undervalued. I don't look that pregnant in my work uniform, so I guess he just thought I'm a bit plump....maybe he would have been a bit nicer to a pregnant ladyin 32 degree heat. Who knows?
Midwife tomorrow, taking OH too so he can see he's really not missing out on anything at these appointments!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
If they gave you a sweep at 3 days over Molly then I hope they give me one tomorrow as I'll be 5 days over then. My sister goes on holiday on Friday so it's not looking good that she'll be able to have DS for me.
Today has been the hottest yet - haven't been out of the house much, mainly to fetch DS from school and fill up his paddling pool - would've liked to have got in myself!
Best go and see what DS is doing - he's been collecting up insects and putting them in a 'home' he's made!
Back later - hope you're all managing to stay cool!Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0 -

Glam - if you're borderline, then it's to be diet controlled, right? It's not so bad - I've been doing that since 18wks pregnant. It's a bit of a learning curve at first, when you're getting used to what makes your sugars go up and what doesn't, but once you get comfortable with that, it's really not bad. Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Good luck!
It will be diet controlled for now but she did say if I didn't control it I could end up on Insulin!! My Mum is a terrible diabetic and thinks the hospital are being over cautious but I'd rather that than them leave it!
Right to clairfy the job sutuation as I do appear to have confused you all sorry!!
Before current employer offered me promotion, I applied for a job with a Local Hospital Trust. Got my promotion and then interview for Hospital job which I have been offered today.
Apparently I was an exceptional candidate, by far the best of them all and they have no hestiations in offering me the job. They are happy to wait until after my Mat Leave but want me to hand my notice in to my current employer now so that I am employed by them before I go on Mat Leave. I just need to check how this affects SMP.
Current Job - no sick pay, no maternity pay, working from Liverpool across to Manchester over 16 sites.
New Job - same salary, sick pay, maternity pay, creche at the hospital (which I can go on waiting list for as soon as I get employed!) and managing a team looking after 90 sites in a smaller area.
Think new job has much better benefits and opportunities!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Well, it's lashing down here now. Lovely warm summer rain though. I must say that the thing that is getting me down most now is my swollen feet/ankles/legs etc. Yesterday and today, they were so bad, I was actually starting to worry that it's not actually normal. But my face/hands aren't terribly swollen so assuming it's nothing to worry about really.
Are everyone else's really bad? I can't even kneel properly because my calves are so bad and the pressure is too much. Does that sound normal?0
