    I have gestational diabetes :eek::eek::eek:

Oh glamazon sorry to here that i take it yyou have only just heard but do you know what they are going to do about it? is there anything other than cutting out sweet things. I wouldn't be shocked if i got it too i have a sweet tooth but have lately gone mad on crisps. My cousin may have it as at her 20 week scan they said the baby has a large tummy than normal and that is a classic sign so she too has got to have the test.

Congratulations on the job Glam, but not on your broken pancreas. I hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble.

    Hugs for nan and beenie.

Very excited that MTW is nowhere in evidence. (But not in that way!)

Furious with my doctor, who watched me have two massive contractions while hooked up to the monitor, told me to take more magnesium to stop them happening (ha! not likely) and then lectured me about not wanting this to continue for another four weeks. He also said there was no reason I shouldn't go to term. He's on my list.

    i got the job!!!!!
:TWell done on the job Glam. Congrats :j

No call yet about GTT. Taking that as a good sign. Said they would call this afternoon if i had it.

Have walked to the doctors 15 -20 mins walk, downhill there and uphill back! To see community midwife, bit of waste of time really as i saw midwife/ and consultant yesterday. But got HIP grant form, now filled in and ready to post tonight. And that was after actually walking DS to school, then to work this morning. (School is next to the doctors). Was very hot and humid, but i made it. And actually feel better than i do just sitting on my backside at work.

Just done my letter for employer re maternity leave. Finish Fri 11 September. One week before due date. 3 months maternity at full pay.
Plus 4 weeks holiday entitlement from this year, they are letting me add onto the end. Return to work Monday 18 January 2010. :T Yay, thats 3 weeks more than i had with DS.

OH has actually gone back to work today, on a staged return. Has only had to work 4 hours, instead of 10. Hoping he will start to feel better, and sleep more, once he is actually doing something instead of festering away at home.

Ooh no. Sorry about the GD Glam. Do you have to go see a dietician now?

:jAlso midwife today gave me a leaflet regarding parentcraft class and one one about "FREE" pamper sessions for pregnant women at the local surestart centre. And its on tomorrow night and no need to book. I am so there. Beauty treatments, Massages, reflexology. :j

I am genuinely gobsmacked! Apparently the cut off is 7.8 and that's what mine was. I have to go back to the Day Unit tomorrow to get training on how to use the machine to check my blood sugar everyday.
Guess I'll have to be good now as these are the implications of poor diabetes control

a condition called pre-eclampsia, which causes high blood pressure
    premature labour
    having too much amniotic fluid

So not good! Oh yeah and a big baby!
Bloody great, good news followed by bad news.

I think I'll still get SMP if I leave my current job but need to do some more investigation. Off home now.

Glam - if you're borderline, then it's to be diet controlled, right? It's not so bad - I've been doing that since 18wks pregnant. It's a bit of a learning curve at first, when you're getting used to what makes your sugars go up and what doesn't, but once you get comfortable with that, it's really not bad. Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Good luck!
