I got my favourite maternity trousers from a Next outlet shop- think they were £10 or £12 a pair. I'm still wearing normal H&M vests (at 22 weeks) and they still fit fine. I think they will last a while longer yet.
I have two maternity dresses- one is a hand me down, originally from Dorothy Perkins and the other was from Mamas and Papas in their 30% sale. Both are so comfy on their own or with leggings.
I do like H&M maternity tops too- I have one I bought there and one I got on eBay.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
I think I need to get my butt to a bigger shopping centre. H+M only had a tiny selection as did Jojo Maman Baby, went I had a looksie earlier today. As for the DP, Asda and New look they had no mat stuff at all. Think it'll have to be internet shopping otherwise.Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

MW didn't really do a proper sweep on Friday, more of just the stretch. I wanted her to be around for me as she's my favourite and this weekend she was off. She's back tomorrow so gonna have a proper go. They normally do them at 41 or 42 weeks so you'll need a reason for asking. Glad you're feeling so well though, obviously taking good care of yourself! XToo many children, too little time!!!0

I have that problem xmas - H&M tops are fine, I normally need an 8, but the trousers will not go over my thighs. It's not even that my thighs were big pre pregnancy, they're just muscled because I exercise and the trousers are aimed at ultra skinny people rather than frequent exercisers.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Ah well, I don't think I have a good reason for getting a sweep yet then. I am happy to wait for it to happen naturally TBH, but I am already having people ringing and texting asking where the baby is and I am not due 'till tomorrow. I wish I could tell them a date and say "baby will be here on xx date", but it doesn't work like that does it:rotfl:
As for taking care of myself, if you had seen the junk I have been eating recently, you wouldn't be saying that. But I am taking it easy from now on, putting my feet up as much as possible and getting lots of sleep in preparation.
Hope your "proper" sweep tomorrow does the job!Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Brilliant I had totally forgotten about peacocks, I noticed some nice bits last time I was in there (few months ago tho). Might go along next weekend, thanks.
I don't recommend Peacocks for maternity wear I'm afraid. I bought some T shirts and bits and pieces there on recommendations on an ealier incarnation of this thread, but it all stretched horribly after the first couple of washes, before my bump even got very big, and ended up being binned after a couple of wears.
For cheap maternity clothes I'd recommend H and M, Dorothy Perkins, Top shop and New Look, and these should wash and wear well enough to look good for the whole 9 months. If you want to spend a little more, you could look in GAP and Next. Ebay can also be good, particularly if you search for bundles of clothes in your size, but beware of anyone selling things described as "Not maternity but fitted throughout all my pregnancy" as these are almost always very cheap clothes stretched beyond all recognition. If you think about it, do any of your nice T shirts or tops which you wear now look like they will stretch to twice their size and still look good! I'd also steer clear of anyone who posts a link to the shop's image of the clothes and no pic of the actual thing they're selling. Though I have picked up some good bits and pieces on ebay I've also bought a few supposedly designer pieces listed in this way, which have been a bit ragged or bobbly and not really worth what I've paid for them.
I am a big fan of buying maternity clothes when you need them, rather than ruining your own clothes by wearing them for too long, or buying bigger sizes in non maternity clothes as I think both are a false economy - unless you are wearing out clothes which you know you will not want to wear again after the baby is born for some reason. As most people eventually do need to go into maternity clothes you may as well get full wear out of them as they cost the same whether you wear them for 6 months or 3!0 -
