I'm here! I've only gone back the last 4 pages though, as I haven't been on since yesterday morning, and there are looooaaaads of posts! Hope everyone is well.
I went to see the head doctor yesterday about my major panic attack at my booking in appointment and subsequent wobbly at the ante natal appointment the next day. He said this was a classic text book post traumatic stress response to the very difficult birth I had last time round, and that it will keep happening every time I go to that part of the hospital unless its addressed. His very strong recommendation (which ties in with what my obstetrician wants) is to decide now on an elective c section, with some major specialised relaxation classes between now and then and contingency plans to keep me calm(ish) while I am in hospital recovering. His thinking was that even if I worked on relaxation and was able to manage the early part of labour ok, once I got to the second stage all hell was likely to break loose in my psyche, and that a normal delivery would probably end up being impossible anyway (though he might just have been feeling sorry for the medical staff who'd have to be there!)
So, need to discuss again with the obstetrician, but it does look like a plan is being formed...0 -
Nicki - sounds like they are giving you lots of time to get your head around it and also giving you plenty of information which I am sure will help with your previous PTS (not something I've ever encountered so don't know much about it)
We've been posting bump pics - did you see?!!

Nicki, it's not easy is it?
I find myself asking at every appointment 'I'm still having a VBAC aren't I?'. Luckily it's a new hospital but I can feel myself getting more and more anxious with every passing day. Week 33 will be a killer for me.
How do you feel about an elective c section? Do you think it will help you?0 -

I thought I was looking not quite so huge as I had been earlier on, but a few comments from random strangers over the last few days are causing me to think again. The best one was a builder coming out of the bookies, who said to me "Blimey love, you don't want to be too far from home at this stage" - I was 25 weeks!
Mind you, with all the recent sickness I've lost 12lbs of the pregnancy weight I had put on over the last week or so, so I'd expect to be looking a bit smaller!
If I can get round to it, I'll try and find the camera later and take an update "for research purposes" obviously)

How do you feel about an elective c section? Do you think it will help you?
Yes, I think for my own mental wellbeing it will be a godsend. My first birth was an elective c section and was very relaxed and just a nice experience, and that child has no health or learning problems. It was the second one which was an unexpected nightmare, and by coincidence or not that child is severely disabled and I was very seriously physically ill after the birth for about a year, as well as having bad PND/PPP.
The strange thing is that, outside of this one area, I'm actually a really calm laid back kind of person. I am the last person anyone expects to have a panic attack, or to get hysterical or to take any decision in any way other than quite a cold and logical one. So it comes as a huge shock to everyone when I disintegrate at the speed of light in this settingand I get embarrassed and upset about it afterwards too as I am Bree out of Desparate Housewives in soooo many ways (:o:o:o!)
I just need to process it all, but I do feel like a weight has been lifted, and that there will be a way to minimise the risks of the whole experience. Though if you find me over on the Parents Thread in the Autumn in a strange state, you'll know maybe not!0 -
Thought I'd post one of the photos from today's scan - the Bean started off very fidgety, he wouldn't stay still to let them take measurements! Then, towards the end & the photo session, he took on a complete strop, finishing face down and refusing to turn over!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
