Getting back on topic ... as interesting as all the above confessions were ....
What do you mean "not your sort of people" ...?
Are they common?
You don't have to drink if you go out with drinkers. I don't. I am not teetotal but I never get drunk ... but I'm happy enough drinking at 1/4 the speed of others, with a diet coke.
It's people like you that make life for people like me difficult ... if neighbours are stand-offish it's no wonder I never get to know them.
Is it because she's single? Do you feel threatened? I've heard that happens ... women drag their men inside the house when I'm about ... and I am quiet, reserved and conservatively dressed. Women just are nervous/suspicious of single female neighbours.0 -
I have some lovely chats with my neighbours when we bump into each other coming and going and we are very friendly 'acquaintances'. We water each others plants etc if you know what I mean.
BUT we never socialise together and personally I have no desire to do so. I want to spend any free time with people I choose not who I happen to live next to.
We never go round for coffee etc. I would just explain along the lines of the truth, you don't drink so don't really go out and with the move your a bit broke right now.
Can't see anyone being affronted by that. Just be too busy to see them.0 -
I think it would be helpful to you and your neighbours if you explain to them that going out drinking isn't really your thing, but thank them politely anyway
Maybe when the older lady starts talking allow her 4-5 minutes then apologise and say you have to rush off, after a few occasions I'm sure she will understand you are busy
Sometimes we can be lucky to have a neighbour we actually get on well with, but most of the time being polite is the best way to keep it, even if you aren't keen on them0 -

Don't know if its true but when I moved into a house with one I did dig it out :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm going to plant one tomorrow.
Give the neighbours something to wonder about"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

As long as it's not that guy from no.7, it'll be okay"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
