So, have I made any progress??? well a little.
Meal plans done for the next 2 weeks, food shopping will not be much as mu mum calle dup from Kent today with christmas pressies for DD's and ssome much needed running socks that I had asked for and........ she decided to take me to Tesco to get me a hamper!!! as in.....fill the trolly type thing.
now we both went for MSE type stuff but now shouldn't need things like pasta/rice/pesto/tuna/ noodles for at last a month:j
Will ring and get CC balances today: I am keeping a rough eye on them but Cap1 won't send me statements and only update the credit report everry 2 months by the look on things.
Vanquis send staments but it's the interest.
And on Monday I will get loan statements from Barclay and WF.
Wtahc for updated sig me thinksProud to be dealing with my debt:eek:
TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D0 -
!!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!!....;why do I always forget about the interest
Anyway have got balances for CC's
1) Capital One £130; have changed my sig
2) Vanquis:£244: have cahnged sig- that's the one I forgot the interest onProud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

Right, have updated my sig with all the totals......I keep forgetting about interest....as in WF
so
Barclay: £2521
WF:£6828
First priority is Vanquis as interest is very very high.....keep dripping money to Cap 1
Then WF overpay little and often and keep barc payments......once both CC are out of way hammer the WF and then once that is gone use the extra for the Barclays loan
I have a cunning plan:jProud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

plans are always good, and even if you forgot interest it's always best to know exactly what you are facing.
I've just shocked myself, just plugged the energy owl back in, and put in the details of our current pricing numbers and it's horrible. I've had to put the tumbler on because of towels and it's saying it would cost £16 to run it all day! argh. I've also just done the leccy readings and we've used £30 in two weeks. guess we're going to have to try and be much better with our consumption. it's such a pain though as we have to get washing dry and try and get rid of the damp.0 -
I think having a plan can be really helpful. Our debts just felt so huge and unmanagable that when we broke them down and decided to concentrate on one while paying minimum payments on the other, it made it feel much easier, plus doing the snowballing thing and attacking highest interest debts first makes financial sense. I've heard lots of people talking about Vanquis having high interest rates, I'm just curious how they get customers - did they offer you a really good deal?
Tell me to butt out if I'm being too nosy....

Jan 08: Debt £15,211  Debt cleared April 30th 2010Proud to have dealt with my debt! Currently building up savings.:TWith enormous thanks to everyone on the forums and:money:0 -
CBM: it';s not nosey.
Because I have moved around quite a bit it counts poorly towards the credit score, up until I got married I had never had any credit- my bank recommened both Cap and Vanquis to get a better credit score......and idiot features here believed them:o
I have a £250 limit on both and flatly refuse to increase it no matter what they offer....and they do offer. I had never used them till I separated, and now have had to. I really want to clear them.
I think for most people it it becuase vanquis is the only one who will take then with a poor credit record.
Lemon tree: what is this Energy Owl???? Rkae it that it shows the consumption? and where can I get one??
I sat down last night and did some very hard figures and have worked oout that I can clear both credit cards by end of Jan.
Then all I have to do is raise the money for WF......can I clear it by end of net year I wonder?Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

mine came when i signed up for leccy last year but i'm sure you can get them on ebay (there was a whole buzz about them at one stage) or i think some energy companies may be sending them out to their customers.
it's scary reading though as it goes up and down as you turn things on and off so you know exactly what things are costing you.0 -
Off to ebay for me then!
I'm worried as my housemate hasn't paid a single bill this month...and they are ringing up to nag.
Might have to swap them over to my account....but then again he prob won't pay anyway.
I like the idea because then i can go round turning things off and seeing how much I can save.
I want evrything cleared by end of net year and if these owl things can help thenProud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

i have to admit that if my housemate wasn't paying bills or rent they'd either be out on their ear or i would be looking elsewhere, it would do my head in, but then it's your decision, though if you took the bills on and he still didn't pay it's your record which gets hammered not his.0

I am paying my half of the rent which is ok, am worried that if he doesn't pay his half the landlord will evict us....which puts me and dd's homeless....so have started looking for somewhere new and got an aappointment with the council to see what they can do.
It was only supposed to be for a year to get us both on our feet then separate ways: think it mihgt be slightly shorter.
Am worried about the bills I have to admit, I will ring them tomorrow to see what I can do about paying over a long period.Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:
