  • Re the supermarkets, does it depend what you buy; branded, shops best or shop's cheapies? I don't ever buy branded, which seems to be where you can make savings in Asdas.
    I go to Sainsbury's.

    Feels like a confession!

i never buy brands, always the shop brand or smart price or equivalent. That's why i like lidl or aldi, same price as the smart price but better quality. Well it was before they started advertising and getting more popular and therefore more expensive.

Usually buy shop brand.....apart from coffee and toilet roll( sorry but am a coffee snob, and own brand toilet rolls and kids don't really mix lol).

Think my nearest lidle/aldi is 15 miles away, which is a pain as I grew up abroad and that is where my mother always shopped: and they do such nice german biscuts/chocs. My only fault with them is that the bags of pasta are never quite big enough:rolleyes:

oooooo CBM, sainsburys, are you sure you should be admitting that?

  • at my 'confession'!

We had the in-laws round for dinner last night, went well although realised when we sat in sitting room that DS had played/groomed cat and the carpet was rather disgusting. We all sat there staring at it for a bit!! No one said anything, then MIL started talking about how they needed a new hoover! Funniest thing is I don't think that OH noticed either the carpet, the glances or the significance of the comments.:rotfl:

    Have a good weekend

lol re the carpet, isn't it always the way.

I have to admit we're the same about coffee and loo rolls, but we get them when they're on offer and luckily Lidl often do Charmin 24rolls for 5.99

when i first moved in this flat there were hideous maroon carpets, which with a long furred tabby cat made for great fun. Specially as i had a terrible cheepy hoover that was worse than useless, the carpet actually turned pink with woven in cat fur. Ended up getting on of the Dyson ones which did pick up the fur but wish it hadn't been so expensive.
It took me 4 years to get rid of that carpet and i hated it with a passion.
  • Lemon Tree - is your dyson one of the 'animal' ones? We've got a dyson, an older model - not a pet version, and it is rubbish at picking up fur.

Catspaw - is there a Lidl online tool that will show you where they all are?

While I was working full time+ , OH and I used to share the housework on a Saturday - ie we'd both tidy, I'd dust and do bathrooms, he'd hoover through. I'm having pangs of conscience now as I'm now back to PT work as of this week, and so maybe he shouldn't have to hoover any more?

not sure if it is one of the animal ones, tis green and grey and was bought in the sale about 7 years ago. Was still heart stoppingly expensive though. OH and i share the house work as well but there's certain things that miss him completely but we've only been married a year so a long time left to train him in.
  • Catspaw - how is the christmas shopping / preps going? Hope you didn't need to buy too many decs.

Lemon Tree - good luck with the training! We're at nearly 10 years and still working on it!
