Oh no Cinny, that's a pain. Tell your uncle to show you the money! LOL
Don't worry about saving up, it will all work out. I joined here in May 06 jobless and about £-3000. Managed to pay my way through a 2 year MA, pay off all my debts and save up nearly £7k for a house and also nearly paid for my next uni fees. It all adds up and can be done on a small wage - I only ever earned £6 per hour 3 days a week during my MA, and now am on £15k part time. You've got a great start with the money from your Grandparents, you're halfway to a house before even starting!
Where did you get with your evening classes in finance? Did they look any good? If you don't mind me saying it's a really exciting time of life for you. Nice to be able to try out some different courses and see what really fires you up. Although I think you should definitely have a little bakery or patisserie. Those white chocolate brownies sounded so good!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
We have a Budgie.. called Alan! Well, he isn't properly ours. My mum went to pick him up for the Old Peoples home she works in, sadly she isn't back at work until Saturday so we have him until then. Although I have a feeling my mum will start to love Alan and end up getting another for the Oldies!
Still no evening classes I'm afraid Lara! I have a few I want to look into but it's just a matter of funds, I know full well I can't afford it, the company can't afford to pay for me either and my parents are starting to come up with their own money worries. Will find a way, somehow!
Sounds like you did a great job Lara! It's been good seeing your uni funds go up. Will that completely cover the course you want? I have to admit too not knowing a thing about Uni!
Spoke to my Uncle about my wages and it was a blip, I had my hours switched with the other office girl so I'll just be given the difference in cash, saves me a trip to the cash machine I suppose! Just looking forward to starting a new month this weekend, as nice as July was with the little holiday - it was equal parts rubbish!0 -
Sorry to hear about yuor parents Cinny. 4 years is a LONG time to wait to move out, I know I've asked many times, but you've never answered me, is there any reason why you don't want to take on a second job a few hours a week? You could hugely increase your savings potential, and have more money free to spend which would make you a lot less stressed. You could also afford to save up for the evening course (have you looked at the OU? Theirs are free for low wage earners) which would increase your long term prospects.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Sorry Dinah, I thought I'd answered! I've looked at other jobs before, but basically the family company comes first. We're barely keeping our heads above water atm, I'd rather just put my energy into these two companies first rather than flitting between different jobs. Although the extra money would be good, I kind of need to see this company as in investing in my future. Like looking at my Grandad who put his all into the company, he's living retired in a 3 bedroomed house (mortgage free since 27 - i think!!) never wanting for anything and not even having to rely on their pensions. That's what I want! I think things will be fine money wise when I'm back on track with all things MSE.
Managed 5NSDs in a row this week, breaking it today as Ma is picking me up from work and we're stopping off at Asda on the way home so I thought I mareswell get the things I was going to go for Friday, means I can spend tomorrow afternoon baking rather than wandering around town. Means I almost managed a NSW! Won't be spending on Friday though, so it's evened out.
And I was right about Alan, we're keeping him! He's cute though so I can't complain.
ETA: Forgot to say, my Ma came home last night with some Mangostene Cleargen for me, I think she was sick of me sitting about with cornflour on my face!Meant to use to 2-3 times a day, put it on last night and my skin is weirdly looking better already - might be placebo though.

I like the sound of Alan, good name
What do the several cats make of him?
Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Thankfully the cats are banned from downstairs so can't get at him. Although I bought Sh*tface in through the kitchen last night and I'm pretty sure he licked his lips.
OH want's to call him Killer :rolleyes:0 -
I understand about wanting to put your energy into the family firm, just sometimes you say there doesn't seem to be enough work to keep you busy. Have they given you an indication that there will be a full time position available there in the future?
Are you just a baking girl or do you enjoy a good pudding too? Made an amazing and very easy chocolate mousse last night with a ginger crust, was delish!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It is understandable that you want to work for the family business and help them out etc but you also need to help yourself. Would be good if like Dinah said you can get a full time position at some point.0

I'll be going full time within a few years, the other office girl has made it perfectly clear once she finishes her college course she'll be leaving as she won't be getting a promotion. I'm not all that fussed about a second job really - I'd rather just throw myself back into money making sites.
Dinah - Of course I love a good pud! The chocolate mousse sounds yummy!
Right, my first spends of the week!
4 bottles of Conditioner - £3.00
Sensations - £1.00 (For OH)
Cat food - £1.97
Pepsi - £1.00
Total - £6.97
Paid £2.00 in change then the rest with my electron.
Got £40 in my purse from my wages, should be getting another £5 tonight. Only spends coming up this weekend will be petrol for OH (£20) and drinks + sweeties for the cinema (£2 tops) So should be left with £18 for next week - when I'm working full time so won't need it for petrol.
Tonights plans - look into new money making websites, make friends with Alan and be ready to settle down at 9 for bbc2 'comedy night'
Done my boots diets for the rest of the day total intake for today will be 801 kcal and 11.5gs of fat. Feel like I've eaten/am going to be eating loads though! Shouldn't complain0 -
Its Payday!
Moved £60 into savings and after my cineworld and Dogs Trust money comes out my CA I'll have £50ish left in. I have £50 in my purse too so after giving OH £20 for diesel I'll have £30 left for the week - which is more than enough considering as of tomorrow I can't buy Clothes, Cosmetics, Toiletries or Chocolate! That's all my money goes on, I'm either going to be super rich by the end of this or find something just as addictive to buy instead.
Just done a survey on Toluna which when it's cleared should bring me too 30,000 points :T If I can keep this up I should be able to redeem for a voucher in a fortnight.
OH picks his car up today - I don't know about him but I'm excited! Not seeing him until this evening though so plenty of time to get the giddyfits.
Going to keep myself of of trouble this afternoon by baking lots of twinks hobnobs also going to make swiss roll using a new recipe. Should keep me busy for a bit anyways!
Have a nice day!0
