I'm struggling with it! Especially as there are just 2 of us this week, I can't just sit quietly and let everyone else talk, I have to be sociable all the time which is not me! Last week we had coffee in the bar after dinner a couple of nights but this week I'll just be going up to my room! It's not like he doesn't see me enough; we have breakfast together, lunch together, drive to and from work together, swim together and have dinner together... I'm running out of conversation and it's only Tuesday! I spend less time with my OH!
I can't believe you need £20k deposit for a £65k mortgage! Crazy! How much money do these bank folk think ordinary joes have lying around! We're not all as smart as Dinah!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Haha, Birdie your OH has reverted to bachelor housekeeping since you've been away. That's a bit harsh having to hang out with your workmate all the time. I totally agree on the jammies front. Just go for it and ditch him, lol!
Cinny, you only need that much to get the low rates, you can still get some 90% mortgages. Anyway don't be worrying about it - you're doing great saving at the moment. It will all add up in time.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Woah that is a lot, we only needed that much deposit for a 200,000 mortgage! Guess it depends on other factors as well though.
Well done on paying off the cc, you cna get working on the savings now. I can't wait to just be saving not paying off debts.
Sounds hard Birdie, I am not sure I could have that much conversation with someone. I would rather just sit in my room and watch a bit of tv or something.0 -
Found a much less scary calculator on Barclays! But then I think I was using it wrong
woops! We could get a 54k mortgage with a 14k deposit. Now, I think that's right, or atleast it sounds a lot better.
Looking at it all puts things into focus, seeing how hard me and OH are going to have to start working to get the kind of apartments we love. (the nearing 160k ones) I'll have to start ebaying everything in sight.
Just done my boots diets up to dinner, 641kcal and 20.8g of fat (regretting that cheeky spoon of chocolate spread!) gonna hop on the treadmill and do my pilates now.
Have a nice afternoon everyone!0 -
It is nice to have something to save for, just think how happy you will be if you get there one day.
Have a lovely afternoon0 -
Thanks Wendz! At least I've got something to focus on all the time I'm cutting back and transfering monies about!
Done my budget for next week on the basis I'm paying board.
Money in CA - £43
Wages - £144
Total - £187
Outgoings:
OH - £20 (for diesel)
Savings- £60
DDS - £22
Total - £102
Left - £75
Not giving myself spends for the week, cause I always go over it! Just going to give myself budgets, £5 for Friday, £10 for the weekend then £10 for next week (including petrol)
Hope that makes some form of sense!
ETA: Just had a word with my brother and he's going to start paying my board as of this week. Vair nice! Updated my budget to fit.
Ugly Betty tonight! Got my cornflour face mask at the ready! Morning off work tomorrow morning so I can sleep in abit, planning on taking my pooch for a long walk rather than my normal trip to town too.
Have a nice night everyone!0 -
Been dreamily looking at Flats this morning. Found a lovely Flat in my hometown for 67k, all Georgian with sash windows and some others in a block of flats I've been lusting after for years. Nice to have a nosey around inside via pictures
OH is being mardy and not playing along saying 'we shouldn't look until with have the money' Where's the fun in that?!
I actually agree with your OH on this one! Factor for the fact that you'll be able to get a 3x joint income mortgage, and will need a 20% deposit. So if you earn £25k between you, you could get a £75k mortgage and need £19k deposit to get a £94k home, which is the top of the affordability range for that salary. Of course I don't know your joint salary or what kind of savings you'd have access to, you previously mentioned 10k off your grandparents, so your situation might be different. I thought you were planning to move in together next year?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I actually agree with your OH on this one!
Don't agree with the lad! I told him I'm just 'keeping an eye' on the market.
We were thinking about move out next year, but now with OHs car loan we'll barely be making ends meet and there's no point putting ourselves in that situation when it can be avoided. So now we're looking in about 3 - 4 years time and going for buying a house rather than renting. I do have the 10k from my Grandparents (which might have gone past 11k now) I want to match that in savings though, which works out at 2.5k a year isn't too bad.
Feeling really groggy today, should perk up during the afternoon though! Work is really quite so I'm going to work on some saving spreadsheets this afternoon ready to email home. Have a nice afternoon!
ETA: Just been given the task of making shiney new spreadsheets for all the jobs we have. Spreadsheets, now that's something I can do!0 -
That is sensible to look at it as a long term plan. get saving and you will be able to get somewhere you like in a few years hopefully!0

At least it gives me something to focus on, I think I'm going to start saving properly for moving out as of next year (can get a high interest ISA) I've worked out in my noggin I need to save £350 for our holiday away in December, about £250 - 300 for Christmas. Got a list of workings out to do tonight. Joy!
Just taking a break from the new shiney spreadsheets for work. I love spreadsheets! Might be just because it's something different to do, but still.
1 hour until hometime!
ETA: Got my wage slip for this week, only £97! Which is like, £47 short. Eugh! Chances are it's either a mistake and I'll get the extra onto my wages next week, or the company is cutting back to basic hours - in which case they could have told me. Hoping it's a blip, will have a word with my uncle tonight.0
