I think that might me a good idea, aim to update it at the end of the day too. I think anything to keep me away from the grabbit boards will be good  Plus all the free time I'll have from not spending hours clicking around on here can be spent drawing up plans and getting on top of surveys and what not.
ETA: On the brightside, just got an overload of Toluna quizzes so edging slowly closer to my voucher! Finally opened todays post and had a freebie, USB reader/re-writer from grabitnow.
Sorry for my minor meltdown!0 -
Hello Cinny :hello:
Sorry I missed your thread. I do remember you saying you were going to start a diary, but I didn't see it at all. What a wally. I have missed your chat and hearing all about your baking adventures, and of course Darcy!
Looking forward to reading from now on.

Hey Cinny
Just thought I'd drop in and say hello! Very impressed with your focus, although it sounds a little confusing to me, but nothing like Dinah's 20-odd bank accounts!
Speaking of Dinah, I think all her advice is pretty spot on and she's testament that it works, but equally you know what your limits are. Actually, I didn't agree that the South is like a concrete jungle!! I'm not really into the North/South divide as I've lived in both and can see the appeal of both. Right now I live on the South (east) coast, sandwiched between the sea and the South Downs so can't complainbut surely far more cities and industrial areas in the North?
Totally agree about spending less time on the forums (it's like compulsive email checking) and you waste loads of time doing it when you'd see the same things just be checking a couple of times a day.
Anyways, I'm reclaiming my Saturday afternoon for a bike ride in the sunshine in place of ranting on MSE! So have a lovely weekend girls xLBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Hey Poddle! Yeah, my ideas and plans can get a little confusing even for me!
I think I'm going to completely ban myself from the forums while at work for the next week, it's way too easy to come on here at work instead of seeking out work. I'll just go for updating once at night then tackling spreadsheets, surveys ect. This site does get a bit addictive!
On the bright side, OH has got a car sorted :j Sadly his loan came too £500 less than he needed for the car so that needs to be pulled from somewhere. We'll get it sorted though. The car looks lovely, should have it on Friday!
Off to watch Outnumbered now, have a nice end of weekend everyone!0 -
Update for today:
Decided to use one of Martins age old suggestions and clear my CC with my savings. Will mean I can start building them up again as of this weekend, and the CC can be cleared and hidden away until October.
Also worked out how much I'm owed by various people and it comes too £450 - all of which are on promises to be paid by November at the latest so that'll go straight into savings as and when I get it.
Still going well on my NSW (alright, it's only been 2 days) been bartering with my family to get things for free. 30 minute foot rub = giving OH a lift home. Going to offer to clean my Dads work van inside - with a new airfreshener! - and out (takes a good 2 hours) for a tank of petrol for my Vespa too. Fingers crossed!
Off to do some bank account shuffling while OH watches the racing. Have a nice Sunday!0 -

...surely far more cities and industrial areas in the North?
Maybe in the NW and around Bradford/Sheffield, but that's not the REAL NorthFrom York upwards is probably one of the least populated parts of the country - North York Moors, Dales, Lakes and Northumberland - great for walking

This is so right! I spend so much time during the day refreshing MSE, Hotmail and Facebook to see if anything new has happened, could get so much more work done otherwise!Decided to use one of Martins age old suggestions and clear my CC with my savings. Will mean I can start building them up again as of this weekend, and the CC can be cleared and hidden away until October.
I'm a bit confused by this, have you not updated your sig yet? Or did you only have so much in savings that you could pay off the debt?
Anyway, I have a baking question for you- Just bought the Hummingbird cookbook after a very successful trial run using a recipe someone had uploaded on the net. I've never piped icing before and am looking into buying a piping set - do you know what's the sort of nozzle I need to do the swirly cupcake icing? A star shape? Quite a large one? And where do you get all your baking supplies, such as sprinkles and edible glitter? It all seems a bit pricy but I might be missing a trick! Thanks in advance petal! x

Breaking my ban because I'm useless.
For the really pretty cupcake swirls I use a 4 pointed 'star' nozzle on an icing gun, but you can get the same swirled effect by just snipping the end of an icing bag at an angle. You can get pretty nice chrome icing guns for about £20 though, most double up as a cookie press too.
I've paid off the CC, but I'm waiting for it to clear before I change my sig. In fear I'll doom the payment if I change it too soon! My savings aint looking to pretty atm, £10 in my ISA and £70 in my saver. Should have them both back up to form in afew weeks though, no sweat!Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »Maybe in the NW and around Bradford/Sheffield, but that's not the REAL North
But then Sheffield is Steel City! It is really built up near where OH lives, but then you can drive for 15 minutes and be in the Peaks so it's evened out. I do prefer the South much more though, just feels a lot nicer there in my opinion. Might because I go there in Holiday mode but everyone seems much more relaxed.
Dinah - OH got a Renault Megane DCi 1.5 diesel. He says I can't name this one, but in my head I'm calling it Minty.
Speaking to my brother this morning and he's going to be paying my board for the next few weeks instead of just giving me the £90 he owes me. Fair enough! Means I won't have to drag myself into town and past all the shops on a Friday afternoon. One less thing to worry about for a few weeks too.0 -
Thanks Cinny - this is the one I have my eye on, mainly because of the pretty tin it comes in

Is an icing gun the same as the syringe type things I've seen? Are they better than the bags? Easier to clean I guess? Sorry, I'm clueless - normally just splodge it on the top!
Looking forward to seeing your updated sig, and it'll be nice to have your board paid for the next few weeks - are you going to put that money in savings instead or relax with it a bit?
Is the car Minty after the mechanic in Eastenders? I was so happy on Saturday as I drove to the lakes in the Blue Bullet, far enough to make the radio code thing unlock itself so I now have music in the car again :T and don't have to worry about being caught wearing my ipod whilst driving... fingers crossed that it gets through the MOT in two weeks now
:o

I thought of Minty from Eastenders after I named it! But it's mainly cause it's that lovely minty kind of green Renaults come in.
I was looking at the Tala range the other day, it's so pretty! I can't work with bags too well though so it's just easier for me to use the icing guns. This is like the one I have: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cake-and-Biscuit-Icing-Set/dp/B00018GJ06
If you're keen on the Tala piping bag they have it for £6.62 on amazon, don't know if it comes in the tin or not though!
I think with the savings I'll put £50 in this week, then for the next few weeks my brother is paying board about £70. Need a bit more left over this week with yet more DDs coming out. Going to work on the rough budget tonight, see what's what!0
