DFWette - Bills, Thrills and Belly Aches

Options
Hey :hello:

I post on here a lot but decided to make my own diary so I can 1. Keep a better eye on things and 2. Stop hogging Dinahs thread!

A tad about me: I'm 18 and live at home with my Parents. I have a lovely Boyfriend who has somehow managed to put up with me for 5 years. I talk too much and I'm beyond fickle.

I currently owe my parents £585 - Not a massive amount for some but a belly ache one for me on my wage.
This started with them lending me £350 for a laptop for my boyfriend (his birthday and christmas presents for the next 30 years) then me borrowing more for needed things (passports ect) and not so needed things (camera, bedding ect!) I've just started paying this off so it's slowly getting chipped away at.
I'm planning to pay £235 off by the end of July, leaving me with the laptop to pay for which they want in November - I already have this saved so it's a bit of a weight off.

I'm also trying to fill this years ISA and save for the big things in full - I never want to rely on CCs so this is a big deal for me. Although it's proving tricky. It feels like I have a teaspoon of spread but a whole loaf to butter.

My weekly SOA
Wages.............. 141.00
Board................. 30.00
Parents.............. 20.00
Petrol................ 15.00 (This is for my vespa and the boys car)
Laptop Fund....... 10.00 (Doubles up as emergency fund)
Spends.............. 10.00
Savings.............. 50.00 (Goes up and down depending on DDs)
_____________________
Total Out.......... 135.00
Money left........... 6.00

Monthly DDs
Mobile............... 26.00 (Tied to this until Nov)
Dogs Trust.......... 9.00 (Would cancel but I can't say no to Podge!)
Unlimt. Card....... 13.50 (Go twice a week so completely worth it)
____________________
Total................ 48.50

I try to build up or keep a £50 float in my CA during the month to cover these but even this has taken a hit recently. So I need to get that back up to stratch.

I'm back to selling books on Amazon, sending old dvds to musicmagpie and listing my first things on ebay tonight for 'instant' money. I'm also back on form with Dooyoo and survey sites to stash money/vouchers away for Christmas.

Taking inspiration from Hypno's spending diary I'm going too keep a detailed spending diary and post it on here everyday. It'll be a lot easier to resist some Cadburys if I know I'll have to come on here and justify it!

And of course a big soppy Thank you to Dinah, Tete, Birdie, Lara, Wendz, Pilchard, Poddle, Flower, ROTE and TPA for giving me kicks up the bum and listening to my whingeing and insane waffling. You're all fantastic! (Sorry if I've missed anyone!)

And if you're still awake after that mammoth opening post, Thank you for reading!

Hi Cinny! I am quite new to the boards, I joined up a few months ago but thought I'd better start posting more often in a bid to clear my debts once and for all (only my parents and boyfriend know about my debt so I think thats contributing to my 'head well & truly in the sand' approach!!)

Just wanted to wish you good luck with your debt-busting, as you say it isnt a huge amount of debt but its all relative to your income etc and it will be a nice feeling knowing you dont owe any money. Among my debts is a smallish amount to my family and much as I like the fact its interest free I also feel a bit bad owing them money when they are not that well off either in the scheme of things!

I am sure you will manage to clear it off soon, you sound as if you have a very mature head on your shoulders, I only wish I'd had the same sense at 18! ;)

    Anyway, happy new diary! :D

Thanks ChocChip! Good luck with clearing your debt too. I think that's the thing about borrowing from family members, on one hand it's interest free but on the other there's this massive guilty feeling!

Just got a text from the boy to say he's managed to get some more OT which is fab. He's in debt too and on a tight budget like me so every bit helps. Just hoping we can get over this debt hurdle quickly and start saving towards moving in together.
Now, got to go find these 10 mystical amazon books.. Why is it so hard to part with some stuck together paper?

ETA: On the back of Amazons 29p albums they have free tracks to download. Updated my iPod with a few. I don't know if I should feel guilty as it's another glitch, or chuffed with some free tracks?

Still not holding my breath over that one Tete! Just going to try my best next Saturday on the first stall and see what happens. It might turn out my family were just being polite for the past 13 years!

Just posted the longest DooYoo review know to mankind. One more thing to tick off the list later!

Well they look good so you could just tour the country, never going to the same place twice, selling pretty but disgusting cakes to unsuspecting punters?

Ooh, I like the way you think! I'll have to invest in various wigs and tish-tashes to disguise myself.

Payday! :j Worked extra hours for my Dad last week so a bit more than normal. Moved £44.33 into savings to round it up too £800 - still on target to meet my goal but frees up £5 incase I need it.

    So I'm left with: £143.70
    Board - 30.00
    Parents - 20.00
    Petrol - 10.00
    Laptop Fund - 10.00
Spends - 20.00 (Petrol for my Vespa will come out of this)

    Left with £53.70

Hopefully I won't have to dip into that at all this week and it'll cover the DDs at the end of this month.

Just rummaged around in my purse and I've got a massive 80p left from my £20 budget. Can't even remember what I bought with it.. I know I got Jammy Dodgers..

All done! Have the day to myself tomorrow so will no doubt have another to do list in the morning. Going to relax for a few hours before I go out with my sister, picking something up for my mum so I'll be able to knock another £18 off what I owe them in the morning.

Just got back from Chatsworth, lovely to get out in fresh air and completely free so had a NSD too. Only 3 left to go for this month! :j Although I did have to restrain myself from buying a Mr Darcy everything.

Ended up buying my tea out last night, but on the brightside it meant I got to sit in Meadowhalls food court and watch Eastenders. So yesterdays spends:

    Petrol - £5.00
    Tea - £4.24
    Post Office - £2.14
    Total spend - £11.38

Which after taking out all the 5ps (Me and OH are saving them, for a reason I've completely forgotten) means I'm left with £9.29 (that's including some odd pence I found in an old purse) to last me until next Friday. Easy peasy! She says..

Picked up the bits my mum wanted last night, used my HMV card so *really* at no real cost to me. Knocked an extra £15 off what I owe them though, so down to £550 now.
Got my Dad the Madness album for Fathers Day and used my HMV card again for that so no spend there either, also made his card from my craft pile so I'm feeling half guilty I haven't spent anything for fathers day, but the other half chuffed I managed it.

Worked out next month is going to be really tight, spends will be down to £10 a week as my wages will be going down to about £131. Need to get as much ebaying ect done as I can to make up the money for my DDs. As me and OH have a few boxes of things in the garage I'm tempted to do a carboot tomorrow morning. Hmm...

Had a lovely day out with OH, went to the cinema to see Transformers. He left out the little detail of it being 2 and a half hours long. Crikey! We've decided to do the carboot next weekend so we have more time to get some stuff together.

Spent £5.99 today. On petrol and sweets for the cinema, but the petrol will get me too and from work all week. And the drinks and sweets were much cheaper at 99p than the £10 I would of spent this time last week!

Just about to get my packed lunch ready for work tomorrow, going to make OH one this week too as he normally pops in to see me on the way to work and seeing how we're both as skint as two skint things I can't see him complaining! Tempted to make a quick batch of Twinks Hobnobs, it isn't too late and I've got some oats I need to use up.
