I don't think your OH is getting value for money either! I pay £90 a week and I have my own room, bills included etc.
That's good that you don't need to buy a few of the big things. How much is yours and your OH's debt combined, if you don't mind me asking! As in, how much do you need to clear before you can think about moving out?
Sounds like it will all work out though, one way or another! :TTotal Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Of course I don't mind you asking! I think together our debts are about £1300, with only £100 of that being mine! So OH needs to seriously get his act together and get it paid off otherwise we won't get anywhere. So I think the idea of seeing where we are next summer is a good idea, we need to sit down and have a proper talk about it though.
Wendz - I know what you mean, that's why we need to clear it all and get a good bit of savings behind us before we go. Really should ban myself from Rightmove or I'll end up moving OH out by the end of the week!0 -
Lol good, I know this is a money site and all, but didn't wanna seem too nosey!
That debt isn't too bad, but I guess it depends on how quick it can be paid off. I just rang OH to see what his debt is cuz I realised I didn't know! It's £400 so I'm pleased about that!
I never look at housing sites anymore. It's too upsetting. Everything 'up North' is cheaper isn't it? Are you even 'up North'?! I remember when I was at my Nan's a few months ago, and I was so shocked at how cheap the houses were. It was ridiculous! Houses are expensive down here. But not as expensive as London! I don't envy you Wendz!

I always get carried away looking on there. I have seen some nice flats for myself and OH to rent but am stopping looking now till we have handed notice in etc.
Is difficult when it is mainly your OHs debt as you can't make him pay it. If he has something to look forward to though, like you moving in together, he may get a move on!0 -
£400 isn't bad at all Zig!
It'll be like a mini Dinah and NIM thing! Only instead of OH moving in with an Irish man he gets a wappy ginger girl instead! Thing is, we make all these budgets and he(we!) never stick to them. So we'll have to be seriously good next month and try to get some of his overdraft paid off.
I'm in South Yorkshire (classed as East Midlands but we have Doncaster postcodes ect) and houses here are pretty cheap. When we were down South this weekend we kept on ooo-ing at the houses. I know they cost way more down there but it seems so much nicer! Coming back I kept on sighing and saying 'even the motorways down there were pretty, now it's all grey and sucky!' So we decided when we're old and dusty we're going to move *somewhere* down south.0 -
Yeah £400 is good, he earns £300 a week so he should be able to pay it off quick! He's all worried now why I wanted to know, he hates it when I try to organise his money. It took me 2, yes 2, years to get him to do online banking. He now grudgingly admits that it's good! Moron.
At least you attempt budgets! We hardly ever do. I try, but they never ever work. Lol, I prefer the South, personally. I like it that it's only 2 hours to Devon, 3 hours to London and I live in a big town. But ideally, I'd wanna live out in the country a little bit.
Ooh you have ginger hair too! And we have the same birthday! But my name is not Kate. Otherwise, that would be strange!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

That would be too strange! Same taste in shoes and everything! (Clearly, same taste is shoes is a more significant connection than hair colour and birthdays)
OH hates it when I try too get all 'Martin Sheen' on him as he calls it! (he isn't sure of Matrin Lewis's last name..) So I'm trying to kind of leave him too it, but without him knowing turn him MSE. I don't know, talk at him about reducing debt while he sleeps and see if any sinks in or something?0 -

Haha! :rotfl: At least he has a vague idea! All my OH knows is that if I'm on the laptop then I'm on this site! He doesn't understand how I find it so interesting.
Ha, same taste in shoes is important! My OH doesn't like themNot that I care that much though..
Apparently that works! The listening to something in your sleep thing. Unless I saw it on a film and it's a lie. Is your OH the same age as you?Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

I'm 3 years (and 3 weeks!) younger than OH. He takes the same view as your OH I think, if I'm on the laptop I'm on here! I don't help myself though, I try and convince him I'm doing something else but he says 'You never type that quick unless you're on there'
I'm way too impatient for this debt clearing stuff, that £25 still hasn't come off the CC. Doesn't Tescos understand I have a sig to update?! Ho-hum, should be done by tomorrow!0 -
I'm about 4 years younger than my OH, I like it that he's older and working and stuff. It'd be a nightmare if we were both at uni, in debt and uncertain futures for work!
Does your OH know you have a diary and talk to people on here? Mine knows I write the odd thing on here, but not that I have a diary. He'd wanna read it and I don't want him too! It's like my own little thing. Is that weird?! He does ask why I'm typing so much though... I say emails
Tesco's are usually quite quick. I know the feeling though, it is pathetic, but it's satisfying when you update your sig! Unless it's an update in the wrong direction!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21
