Hi,
We have received this response from Got u covered:
"Dear customers / consumers,
I must first explain that we have never been on BBC's watchdog, we have no affiliation to any company that has and we have no connection to any other service agreement provider in the UK.
Secondly we have no affiliation with BSkyB or Domestic and general nor do we claim to have, we have had no such communications from either of the above.
All calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes and I would be more than happy to look into any such claims. PLEASE WRITE TO THE CUSTOMER CARE MANAGER, @ GOTUCOVERED, UNIT 2 ALLENS YARD, NYTON ROAD, ALDINGBOURNE, WEST SUSSEX, PO203UA.
We do not "cold call" random people, we use telemarketed calling lists collected by a telephone survey and consumers / household MUST give permission to be called by partner companies first, if you or anyone in your household did not give express permission you would not appear on our calling lists.
If you have been contacted by a representative of Got U Covered ltd we would have used the following script;
"good afternoon my name is................I'm calling today from Got u covered ltd regarding your digital satellite system.
There's 2 reasons for the call today, firstly to alert you that the initial manufactures warranty that gave you free call outs and repairs may have expired, and secondly I'd like to rectify this for you today"
We then go on to explain what is covered and what is not before offering the customer a choice of 5 payment options, at the end of the call the following compliance statement is read and you are asked to either agree or not;
"your service will start immediately and your service provider is GotUCovered ltd, we will send written confirmation to you the next working day, this will contain full terms and conditions of the product and you will have seven working days cooling off period from receipt. all our engineers will be vetted and approved first and will belong to one of the following CAI, RDI, or ASA, we will not use engineers that have not been approved first, is this O.K. ?"
This script has been checked by Trading standards offices up and down the UK as well as CAB and private solicitors and is agreed to be "fair and in no way misleading"
My advice to anyone that feels this was not the case please contact the customer care manager to arrange a convenient time to listen to the call as it will no doubt be recorded.
Kindest Regards,
Danny Keet, M.D. Got u covered ltd"0 -

Hello Mr Keet, Ref SH 31365
I have had contact with your Company twice by phone and twice by letter, the last letter addressed to you personally, but I am getting no response to my questions . My story is like the many others, I took out a policy with you last year presumably for one year and agreed for you to take £90 from my account. There was no mention that this arrangement was for any further than twelve months – the terms and conditions were not read out to me. Then this year you tried to debit my account again with £90 without my consent but were unable to as the number had been changed.The letters I sent to yourselves are in far more detail than this.
I had paid for the years cover that I had received and that should have been the end of the matter. I even offered in my last letter to pay the June and July payments but this was refused. I have received threatening letters saying you will take me to court if I don’t pay for another years policy. I have sent letters explaining the situation and asking you not to contact me again and I have then received letters back from yourself, again demanding that I pay. I would go as far as to say that you are bullying me and your letters have brought me to tears. I am an elderly lady and my husband is severely disabled so I have no one to turn to. Please tell me this intimidation will end?0 -
my mum was i believe also conned into giving her card number over phone, i hva changed her card, and cancelled old one , so if they want to try and take any more money TOUGH!!!!! let them try and take an 87 yr old house bound in a care home to court if they have got the nerve0
-
windsorlad,that may not work - if they have a recurring payment set up on the original card they may well request the Bank to honour it -make sure that the Bank know why you have cancelled the original card and watch bank statements lke a hawk!0

I've just contacted Consumer Direct on 0845 4040506 about Got U Covered who are trying to con us out of money. They say that Trading Standards require a high volume of complaints before taking action - so if you have had problems with Got U Covered, Please phone Consumer Direct as soon as possible. This scam needs to be stopped !!0

Why would anyone pay these companies £99 to cover a breakdown which may never happen and which, if it did, Sky would charge only £65 to fix, including any reapirs or equipment required? You'd have to average 2 callouts every single year to make this seem remotely attractive.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I just can't understand why Got U Covered hasn't been closed down and its directors subject to criminal prosecution and their ill gotten gains confiscated. There really ought to be enough evidence with the reports of myself and others to the police and trading standards.
If there aren't enough police and trading standards to do this now, what's it going to be like after 20% cuts? Society can't afford to allow these parasites to continue.0 -
Have had a Final Demand from Got u Covered. We asked them for a copy of the recording of the original conversation with my husband when he was cold called, despite being on the TPS . Guess what? They didn't send one! We know that he agreed to a 1 year contract ONLY, to be reviewed by him at the end of that time. We are in contact with Trading Standardsand following their advice - What else can we do? Help please ! Getting scared!!!!0

Not only go to Trading Standards but also visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau. In this case, when they renew a policy they have to provide notification as you are entitled to a 7 day cooling off period, which obviously in this case they haven't done.
I am in a very similar position, however i myself have never had a Sky box at all, and this "company" have been taking money out of my account for two years! As soon as i found this out, i was straight onto trading standards, they advised me to send a letter requestion proof of contract, whether it is through a signed agreement or the transcript of a conversation. Like many other people on here, i had no response, again i sent 4 letters in total (IMPORTANT: SEND RECORDED DELIVERY, KEEP THE RECEIPTS) and had not one reply.
I came to the end of my tether last week when they sent me a letter with a final demand stating they would take me to court. I however have got in their first, i updated trading standards and citizens advice about my position, and they advised to go down the Small Claims Court route. So this week i have submitted my claim. And the process isn't expensive, as i'm claiming less than £300, i only had to pay £25...bargain for justice!
I will keep updating on progress.0
