There is a problem when people start to see it as a "right" and not a "priviledge".

The P&C spaces are there because they were lobbied for by parents groups who think they are a special case.

Equally, if there is no real need, and the facility to find a normal space within 20 metres why is it so important to have them?

I think it would be interesting to have a poll as to how many people think they are necessary or not

Ignorance is bliss  Tis folly to be wise. If we didn't have children there would be no human race!

For ensuring human race continues. Jaffa, I award you with a Parent & Child space, as you have a child this parking space will award you with the ability to park closer to the store than those with a genuine need. :T

There is also a lot of focus on the needs of the parent. What about the needs of the child?

Go to the discussion forum, click new thread, title the thread, and then it will ask do you want to start a poll, click yes, and it will give you some options, and also the option of making the poll open, that is so that anyone can view who voted, and how, and then you get the chance to put a closing date on. Sounds complicated, but it is quite easy really.

Not sure how the needs of the child (in a carseat/buggy/holding the hand of a parent) come into the equation?

why are people so funny about the p&c spaces. Of course they are not essential but they are a big help if you have a small baby. A lot of people on this thread are moaning that the parents are lazy etc for not wanting to walk further but are these the same people that take up the p&c spaces when they don't need them?? Personally the spaces are useful for me because they enable me to fully open my door to get carseat/ (baby when he got older) out without hitting anyone elses car and you can have the trolley right there ready to put the baby in. (for the person who said about getting carseat out this is the safest way to transport a newborn round the supermarket until they are able to sit in the trolleys seat.) Cars and baby safety equipment have got larger over the years but parking bays have not - hence difficulties parking in a normal bay. I myself have also been blocked in when parked in a normal bay and been unable to get baby in. And I did park pefectly in the middle of the bay - I could get in but it was impossible to get the baby seat in without bashing the door of the person that had parked ridiculously close to me.

I disagree. Asda have a sign by each space stating a £60 fine for abuse. I don't know whether or not they enforce it but it does the trick

So what if they have a sign. I could put a sign up if I wanted to.:money:

It is not legally enforceable and is there to dupe money out of the gullible.

I also do not see why people with Kids should get preferential treatment in the parking stakes. The disabled is a completely different matter however what is it with parents who seem to think they are so bloody virtuous because they pop out a kid or two and also expect the rest of us to move our loves around to suit them.
