Tesco - Parent/Child + disabled car spaces

When I was an owner of a 3 door car with a small baby in a car seat having a wider space is necessary.
When my daughter was only weeks old I came back to my car and found someone had parked so close to me that I was unable to open the door wide enough to fit the child seat through the door. What should have I done in that situation?? Well, I had to put my baby in the boot so I could reverse the car out the space a bit so I could open the door enough.
Parent and child spaces also have a place to leave a trolley as you can't leave your children unattended whilst trotting off half across the car park to leave it in a trolley bay.
Now my daughter is older and not in a rear facing car seat I don't bother waiting for a p&c space as I don't "need" it but will use it if there is one available as she still needs carrying from car to trolley and strapping in etc. I get wound up seeing an older child getting out of a car as they are able to get themselves in and out without the assistance of their parent.
Anyway, I've solved this problem by getting my shopping delivered0 -
''We often have problems with people who take these spaces but it is a nightmare trying to get a baby out of a cramped space especially when it is raining''
No its no more difficult at all it just means your getting wet and that's what your moaning about, again why isn't the baby wrapped up so it doesn't get wet?
''This is not the first time''
Park in an emptier bit of the car park so its easier, buy an umbrella and deal with it. Or if its too busy go shopping at a quieter time.
''moron in a big truck 4x4 thing. She confronted the guy and got a load of abuse''
If there was less wide spaces because of parent and child spaces everyone might have a chance at a wider space because they'd stop cramming them in when everyone else has to deal with damaged cars etc. Also its not her job to confront someone, she should mind her own business, your wife isn't the car park attendant and has no more right to that space then someone else. Maybe that guy loves his car as much as you love your baby.
Maybe the customer service person thought you was totally unreasonable too.
And again how did your wife know this guy was less needy then you and your baby, nothing to stop this guy having an operation or whatever.
She sounds like a busy body and the guy probably wanted to get in and get out with as little hassle as possible and she came all up in his face moaning and whinging about getting her baby wet. She should have got a baby sitter or just sent you, problem solved.0 -

Its not the supermarkets job to come up with a solution for an inadequate car?
YOU GET NINE MONTHS TO PLAN
Maybe you aren't supposed to leave your kids while you take the trolley back but i'm pretty sure sticking it in the boot isnt in the rulebook either?
Parents have no real need for these spaces, just expectations.0 -
Do you park in a normal space when you take your baby out Notafan? Do you not find the wider space easier to use when you are carrying 2 stone of car seat in one hand and a bag of shopping in the other?0

Hazel your missing my point. Its always that people seem to look for someone else for the answer and not themselves.
I know if i had a three door car that I'd go when it wasn't busy or park somewhere near a trolley bay if it was that big of an issue.
Also if i was worried about carrying shopping and my baby I'd take someone to help, or have a trolley to put the baby and the shopping in back to the car.
I also know that if i felt i was totally inadequate as a parent in that i couldn't even take my baby to a shop and get it in and out of the car I'd wear a condom to make sure it was never an issue.0 -
Here come the angry mob SIGH
This is the attitude that highlights my point its always the same...
i have a child, i have a right, you should provide, we should have, everyone should make it easier
all answered simply,
you made a choice so deal with it, your owed you nothing0 -
I actually bought a new car as the 3 door car was ridiculous with a baby.0

exactly problem solved,
its not a rant at people with children, there's ways around everything but it annoys me that people think when you have a child your owed something when in fact its down for the parent to prepare for every eventuality not anyone else :beer:0 -
I love the "I parked in the quiet part of the car park with empty spaces either side and when I got back a car had parked so close to me I struggled opening the door". These are often the people that do not park centrally in the space so when someone else parks correctly in the space next to them it means they have not much space on one side and loads on the other side... Learn to park properly or actually take the time to get your car in the middle of the space0

At the end of the day, Disabled bays and Parent & Child bays have no legal standing on private car parks.
