Fed up with Father's Day

Have you thought about sending a funny one. I always pick the ones for my dad saying what a wonderful daughter he has. Or the ones asking him for a loan, you know the one that butters him up, tells him what a great Dad he is then asks what time the bank opens.
Although it is all humour in our family0 -
Going off topic a bit, but there is a card shop near us that I visited yesterday and they had Father's Day cards which said 'Thanks for being just like a father to me'. I was surprised, as I'd never seen any like this before, but afterwards I realised what a great idea it must be for some people.Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

I dont do mother's day, fathers day or any of those other days (except xmas of course).
I dont need a card from my child for them to say ''i love you mum'' they tell me every day, same goes for their dad.
Although they do make them at school, which we cant stop and as they get older they will make their own mind up as to whether to get us one or not.
I think you've had some trauma in your life with regards to your dad, whatever it be and you havent really faced up to it but just gone along with it. But now you've realised and are taking a stance against it. I agree with the previous post go on moonpig and get a card there, saying whatever you feel like saying and have it sent to yourself first, that way you get everything off your chest in a card and by the time it takes to be delivered you will have either calmed down or decided that its about time he heard what you had to say. It might just be the best father's day card he will ever recieve.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
I don't do cards to my family generally - I'm neither organised enough nor do I feel that sending a card once a year will make a blind bit of difference... Those I wish to talk to I will, and those I don't I won't... There is only one (now two) people I buy or will buy cards and such for and that is my husband and my 3 1/2 week old daughter... and she will be giving daddy a fathers day card this year - she might need some help buying it and writing it but still
But I never have and never will be sending my father cards... in my family we just don't...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Well I for one am really looking forward to receiving a Fathers Day card from my 21 year old daughter - the first I will have received for 9 years. :j:j:j
During and after my divorce my ex, the female dog!!, filled daughters head full of lies that everyone in the family hated her and she was to have nothing to do with us all. Last summer I and the family had a wonderful reunion with her and all the lies were exposed. And guess who didn't receive a Mothers Day card this year! :cool:0 -

awww.... :T:T:T so happy for you Nar sweetie!! thats exactly the stunt my mother pulled on me about my real dad (which is just one of many reasons we don't get along)
I only got a few years with my dad before he died but it was a great thing to realise that he didn't hate me after all.... make sure you spend lots of time with your daughter she's missed to much of dad (and i bet you are a great one) already. This months aim :- Stick to food Budget / find £100 for my car insuranceMay GC :- £250/£234.55 :T:A:TJune GC :- £150/£127.37:eek:0 -
I don't think not sending the card will resolve any issues for you. Do you think you could resolve the issues between you? I just get the impression that your feelings for him are confused and that is what you need to work out. You can't change him, but you maybe could talk to him? Or maybe not.
I just think it will hurt you not sending the card more than it hurts him...0 -
im not sending my dad a fathers day card this year as i have had enough of him. He to is selfish, has favourites, and if I don't do things his way he hates it and makes a statement, at 29 years old I feel I am old enough to decide myself whether I send a card or not and this year Im not. I havent had a good relationship with him since my parents divorced over 13 years ago I just kept the peace with him but now im pregnant with my first child, I will not allow him to let my children down the way he has let me down over the years. I know he will wonder where his card is as he is a very card orintated person.Love a charity shop bargain0

Just because your dad is not able to be a good father to you, does that mean that he can't be a good grandfather to your child?
Thinking about having children is what has made me appeciate that whatever the differences between me and my parents, they gave up a lot and did a lot for me when I was small and they must have really loved me, however hard they find it to express that now.0
