I've just been reading the other "bad meal experience thread" about the manager who offered a fight - by mentioning the name of the place in many of the threads looked like they got it to top of the google page..

    This site is great :A

Can you point me in the direction of that thread please. Tried searching for meal and fight but couldn't see it.

    Thx.

Hi, I didn't have access to the internet late afternoon/evening yesterday as I was out with friends so apologies for the delayed post.

The place is Malt Shovel. Iver Lane, in Uxbridge, the chain is Vintage Inn.
Summer thats extremely local to me. Have been there several times if it is the one not far off the Cowley Road. Never had any trouble there but am concerned now as we have a meal booked there for Fathers Day.

Friend of flatmate has had 2 meals there where the wife got food poisoning but they were given vouchers. We have never had any trouble there - food has always been excellent - also flatmate used to go there regularly for lunches with his old company.

Please can you pm me with details of your issue/ person/dates involved etc to prevent something happening when we go?

Hi there, The food poisoning is worrying

Maybe they have trouble coping when it's busy, who can know for sure . It could be due to new staff, different chefs, new assistant manager who doesn't have a clue about customer service..

I have been to other vintage inns before and have had good meals myself so I know that they can be good

I can forgive most of what happened that evening but I can't forgive the assistant managers behaviour - it was uncalled for. All the details are in my first post..

I was once insulted* and threatened with a beating by the large Chinese manager of a restaurant in Glasgow (Long ago Closed). The daftie did it all in Cantonese thinking I would not understand what he was saying! I wish I had a picture of his face when I told him to "kung sao", lit, raise your hands a traditional challenge in Chinese. Funny enough he did not take me up on my offer (They had tried to overcharge me for a beer, I was training at the time so I only had one and my GF doesn't like beer. The worst bit was a table of people who had Fanny Adams to do with it decided to tut and look at us like we were in the wrong. The waitress had written down the drinks order wrongly then brought me the wrong dish, not the end of the world until they tried to overcharge on top of that.

Hi Reverbe, I hope you have a nice meal - I have a feeling you will as now people have complained to the company the issues are being looked into.

They will not want any problems on Fathers Day, I'm sure they'll have plenty of staff working.

Just to give an update. I've had a call from the head office and they have been investigating the situation last week. There is a new manager at this restaurant.

The person who called me was really apologetic that firstly my meals were of such poor quality and yet still served to me, and secondly of how things were handled that evening. Apparently police are not normally called unless under serious circumstances and they said they had hoped that the assistant manager would not have actually done this on this occassion.

I was offered a refund or an option to go to another restaurant for a meal/drink. I was also thanked for providing the feedback as they said they would like their customers to leave with a positive impression.

I am happy with the outcome and would like to say thank you to all of you who offered me advise and your point of view as it's been really helpful..
