So am i right in thinking that you got to use your voucher on the meals but had to pay full price for your drinks?

Yes kind off, about a year ago we had a mix up with our orders on a meal out as the staff were new at the time and training and twice our meals had gone to the wrong table (as others had ordered the same dishes.) The dishes that we had ordered then ran out so the manager had said that she'd like to invite us back to give us the value of the goods/food we should have had that night. As we'd already paid you see. Maybe what I should have done at the time was ask for a cash refund but as the manager was really great and realised there had been a mix up then I didn't think it would do any harm to go back and give it another go.

The food we had wasn't even for half the value of the total "voucher" and mostly unedible. Therefore we didn't even get our money back in a sense and had to pay for drink on top after the place had said we could use it against drink.

Name and shame - I have written to the company in question last night and am awaiting a response. I have asked for a cash refund on my original costs I paid and specified I don't want vouchers as I never wish to go through anything like this again to be honest. Do you think it's fair that I should allow them at least until this evening to respond in some way before I name and shame? Although I am still fuming when I think of the whole ghastly mess I don't want to act in any way inapproprietly or say or do anything that I shouldn't? Or maybe I am worrying too much...

Not at all. Because if they act quickly and demonstrate, belatedly, good customer service, I am sure that you will report back.

you dont have to pay for food which is substandard.
you dont have to be treated in a demeaning manner by an assistant manager of all people.
tell her she is a liar for changing her story regarding the drinks, and you want to speak to her boss to make a complaint right now, otherwise you are walking and not paying a penny.
she will fold, and you have nothing to be embarrased about.
always, walways give as good as you get!

The woman was a nightmare, can't believe she changed her mind like that and how rude and aggressive and dismissive of me she was. Treated me really badly, refused to disturb manager and kept the police threats going..
