  • My husband is sitting with a grumpy face because I only gave him one chop along with chips & peas tonight.
How much would you give your man.
The chops cost £4.00 for 4 pretty decent sized I'd say.
    Am I being stingy??

    What kind of meat?

If they were 4 for £4 then I would be expecting a minimum of two - and I do mean a minimum.

Sorry I though the OP was feeding her husband, not running a farm.

    I must have misunderstood.

I have read it in various places that the amount of meat on your plate should be no bigger than a pack of playing cards, so one decent sized chop should be enough, according to that. You could also serve a chop with two or three portions of different veggies and potatoes, that would look a good sized meal. If you do things with chips and peas then you could add pickled onions, beetroot, sliced tomato or salad garnishes on the side, and serve a buttered roll or slice of bread and butter with it. I think a lot of men were brought up to think that if you don't have half a cow on your plate then you are being starved to death - hence all the fat blokes you see around! Although, come to think of it, drinking vast quantities of the falling-down stuff could have something to do with that!

Incidentally, to get a really good pork chop from a butcher you could easily spend getting on for £2 - that is, one with loads of meat and maybe a kidney still attached.

We would have had 2 each with there being 4.

If there were only 2 to start off with, we would have 1 each with chips, but have more than 1 kind of veg to bulk it out.

Saying that though, I could just put beans on toast in front of OH and he is happy.

He knows how to cook if what I give him isn't good enough!
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...
  • I'd do one each for chops - giving him the bigger one (there's usually 2 big and 2 little in a pack when I get them). Not had any complaints from him about it.
