I was driven to measure my ladle! It's slightly over the 150ml mark. I wonder how big a ready meal serving of sauce is?

Well, I have oval tubits which I use for batches of soup which I make, and I fill these half full, this gives me a bowl full of soup.

Its hard to say what a portion is, isn't it. Would a bowl full of soup be enough if it was sauce for pasta? I think it would especially with the meat in it and not just tomato sauce.

Thank god I am not the only person who has to do stuff like this when it is mentioned :j
Those tubs of pasta sauce(fresh) that you can buy in tesco/sainsbury etc are about 300g, so surely that makes our 2ladlefuls (maybe 3 in my case with my OH appetite) generous??? :rotfl:

I reckon a soup bowl full would be 2 portions for me and OH when bulked out with pasta? Or am I being stingy? This is the problem, I know I would prob be ok, or fill up with an apple/orange/yoghurt (or biscuit or ice cream :o) after
but OH doesnt really eat things like that. Could always give more pasta I suppose :D

Minimum of 8, maximum of 10 Portions, per Kilo of mince.

If you get a 500g margarine tub, then fill it 3/4 full and this is about right for an adult., with 100g of pasta.

I put 3 x 100g ladlefulls of sauce per tub (but as others have said it depends on the size of you ladle)

Freeze this sized portion, it is easier to defrost several small ones than one large lump!

is this per person or for two? I tend to freeze in double portions and that sounds a normalish size for that (don't use marg so don't have tubs, bolognese/chilli tends to get frozen in bags)

When I make bolognaise I use 500g mince, 1 oxo, diced onion, 2 or 3 grated carrots, 2 handfuls of oats, tom puree, 3 tins chopped toms, basil/oregano.

A third of this serves 3 of us (about 2 ladles full each) with 75g dry weight of pasta each and some green veg/salad. I freeze the other two thirds in 2 tubs (I think they are about 500g tubs). These do another 3 portions each, so a total of 9 portions from 500g mince. So 1KG would do 18 portions. ;)

OOPS. I was hoping to get maybe 10 or if I was lucky 12! But I didnt add oats and I have a very hungry OH (who would not accept 75g pasta as a main course! :D)

Its cooling down now so will be able to give a final answer soon :)
