Sky+ for £29 for existing customer

I'm obviously not as good at this as I thought I was ...
I've been with Sky for only 2.5 years. I just tried this cancellation thing and even after a few refused offers, I could not get them to go for any lower than £29 for the sky+ box and £15 for installation (so a total of £44!) I didn't accept it and said that I'd be talking to my partner and would then ring up later and go through with the cancellation. I really got the impression that she was going to call my bluff and go ahead with the cancellation ...I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0 -
What would you do if you rang up and said "I want to cancel" and they said oh ok, I'll cancel you and didn't offe anything Calling your bluff0

I'll let them call my bluff. It wouldn;t be the end of the world. I'm going to try again and if i don't get the sky+ and installation offered for at least £29 in total then I'll go through with the cancellation and move to Virgin. I'm not going to let Sky give me a crappy deal when they are obviously capable of providing the sky+ boxes for £29 (or even free to some people on here)I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. I tried that and they called my bluff, well they offered to downgrade me to the basic package for £16.50 a month.
As far as I can see that £16.50 package is just freeview channels with Sky 1 and some other garbage I'd never watch, so I politely declined.0 -

Yep .... just tried again and the best they could offer me was £44 for a Grade A reconditioned Sky+ box (which is crap). I don't see why I should get a worse deal than a new customer (or some of the people who were successful in haggling a free Sky+ box on here). So I went through with the cancellation. They didn't really put in much effort to retain me as a customer ... and they lost me all for the sake of £15! Shame really!
Will see what i get left with for freesatfromsky .... but then may have to look into getting Virgin ...I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0 -
I think if I had had more add-on packages or other services with them, they probably would have tried harder to keep meI enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0

Thank You libzepplin !! :T
After reading this "thread" we got Sky+ installed within a week for £44 (£29 for the box and £15 for installation)...!! I had been thinking about getting it for ages but at £159 there was no way I was going to.....
I did not bargain too hard after reading the other responses and in all honesty I had a £50 maximum budget in my head when I called through to the "cancellations" or as Sky said the "turnaround team".
I went in armed with information about Virgin and their promotions but they did not ask me much about what Virgin could offer me.
Please note for our deal we did NOT get a brand new box. It is a "Grade A" used box which looks brand new. The Sky person told me that it has a 75 point check (technical and cosmetic) before it is sent out PLUS a full 12 month warranty which is the same as a new box. We had to subscribe for another 12 months (which was fine for us) and finally we only subscribe to a basic 4 mix package and do not have broadband or a phone with them. Maybe that is why they could not offer it for £29.
Whatever the case we are very happy0 -
I got offered the same £44 'deal' as you Pan ... but I refused because itwasn't the same as a new customer. So I cancelled the whole damn thing ...
I hope some day, if enough people refuse, that they'll treat existing customers with a bit more respect.I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0 -
this £29 sky plus seems a common offer then. I rang to cancel on sat and got offered that, plus my existing package (tv (four mixes), broadband mid), then sky talk and line rental for £31.50.
I said no, cancel.
However, thinking about it's it not a bad deal, so I rang back to change my mind. Now the offers gone!! rubbish! They're offering me the same for £34.50... but the £29 sky plus now has installation fee of £30 instead of £15.
grrrrr. What a con! I don't think it's really an amazing offer anyway, just standard, what any new customer would get. But any new customer gets sky plus free.
I'd go with tiscali or virgin, but my new house isn't in a cable area.0 -
After reading this thread I too called Sky threatening to move to Virgin and was offered reconditioned Sky+ box and installation for £59. I see most of you got it cheaper, not sure why I didn't unless its coz I've only been with them almost 3 years. Anyway, I'm happy at that coz if I hadn't of read that I would have been paying full whack!0
