Sky+ for £29 for existing customer

This is my first post, but I just had to share this!!
After phoning sky last week to price switching to a sky + box, I was told it would be £99 and £60 installation. I have just phoned them back today to call their bluff by telling them I wanted to cancel my subscription and move to virgin. (After looking on Virgin's web site I had some prices to throw at sky) Within a minute they had offered me a sky+ box including installation for a one off £29 payment (payable over the phone with debit / credit card). The only drawback is I have to wait till August to get it installed, but I don't care really, I have just saved well over £100!!

We did exactly the same earlier this week, got the same deal as you and are looking at installation in 1 weeks time.

Funny that you have to go so far before they will offer you anything, but very pleased.

You are very luck to get installation in a week!! August seems ages away... perhaps they have had loads of people phoning up this week!! x:beer:

They will be paying the same as they are paying now. This is just an upgrade of the box from a standard one to a + box

Yes, i will still be paying my monthly subscription. It is a one off fee to upgrade my normal sky box to a sky+ box.

You will LOVE sky plus - I was convinced it was just a gimick (sp?) but I wouldn't be without it now, it is great!

You will love Sky+ until it all goes belly up as mine did a month ago. I had it for all of 19 months My planner which was 60% full of progs to watch was wiped clean and I couldnt record.
On phoning Sky and waiting 14 mins for a human being I was told 'Oh yes the hard disk has failed which is quite common and you will need another box'
It cost £65 for an engineer to come and remove the original and replace it with a reconditioned one in poor condition by the look of the casing. He was in the house for all of 5 mins and all I get is a 3 month warranty.

My advice is get a Freeview box - a lot less trouble and more money in your pocket

You should have threatened to just cancel sky altogether than pay that rediculous £60 call out charge. Im sure within minutes the charge will have disappeared as they wouldnt wanna lose a customer over a £60 call out fee.

just rang sky made out i fuming as i had just read this web page and i had had enough of sky and i was cancelling and surprise surprise! sky + FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! so give them a call and ask for cancellations and rant!! it works!!!

I just phoned for my mum asking to cancel subscription altogether - and was given free Sky+ box (installation in 2 weeks) with £15 install fee! Also got to keep Movies for 3 months for free.:j
