Me too. When can I start sending money via BACS? It says 10 working days but they may be a lot better and I don't want to miss out on the rate. When can I start using the internet banking?

I think that you have to wait for the acceptance letter plus they have to set up the DD with your bank. I would say about 10 days?

I am considering opening my first savings account. It looks as though this is a good option, at least for the short term (6-12 months). Would those of you who have joined up recommend this service? Can anyone suggest how the 2.85% rate offered is likely to change over the next year? How easy it would be to transfer my savings at any time if I decide I'm not happy with the account?

    Thanks guys!

Would the rate change? Depends on the future really!

Don't see it as a bad choice for your first savings if you are going to dip into them- an ISA account is always a good choice, but not great if you dip in and out.

this is account is easy, but they do ask for a blood sample / next of kin / details of 3rd cousin twice removed on mother's side for security passwords etc..

if you want super clean account, Yorkshire Building Society has a 2.1% online account thats super easy to use.

Egg's 2.50% account is better than either of those for ease of use ;)

The Egg account is 'new money only' and for the extra few % its worth jumping through a few hoops to get it.
