Well I received some yesterday and I have done 1 load of washing with them already which has got the clothes clean. I must admit I was sceptical at first but it even got socks white which havn't been white for ages and that was only on a 40 degree wash. I'm washing a sheet and duvet cover with them right now so we will see how they get on with that.

I'm so impressed I might order more

I got mine yesterday too and used them last night - results were good - I used vinegar in the rinse dispenser and after drying the clothes were very nice and soft - no smell just clean. I got lots of shells in my parcel enough to use two lots and give away 1 lot. Will wait till I have a really dirty lot as my clothes are not really dirty.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

After reading this thread I emailed them and asked if they would send me a sample to try - and they have done, nice people.

My free sample arrived within a few days - tried it out, and clothes were lovely and soft. Green AND moneysaving - doesn't get much better than that! I've ordered a big bag already. They didn't shift some really ground-in dirt on a jacket of mine, but I don't think even bleach would have moved that. I didn't put any conditioner or vinegar in the rinse and the clothes came out clean but not smelling of anything much. I quite like the smell of soap powder, so maybe I'll have to use some lavender essential oil to add some interest. Incidentally, does anyone know if the soapnuts should be dried out between uses, or whether you can just leave them damp in the bag until next time you have a load of washing ready? I'm not talking weeks, just a couple of days or so.

On the point of conditioner, I havn't used it for years, I've always thought it was a waste of money, sorry.

Towels, Jeans and all clothes are fine.

Well I just left mine in the tablet net bag, on a rack until I needed them again

Have just emailed for a sample. I live in a soft water area so hopefully they will be a success. I will definitely buy them if they are. I like to be environmentally friendly and if it saves me money then we all win!

If the date was different it would feel like an April Fool though. Does anyone else feel like this? Using nut shells to wash clothes?:confused:

  • Oh pooh!! I had loads of these after I did a joint order with someone....I live in a hard water area, and the instructions I had with mine were awful, as they came from Germany and the person writing it must have used their dictonary constantly! Anyway, to cut a long story short, my instructions said 4 shells per wash was ample, and I found they didn't work very well, so gave them away through Freecycle - now I'm wondering if I should have persivered (sp) and put more nuts in per load - and I didn't realise you could re-use them a few times either!!! I'll request a sample and see if I change my mind. The ones I had last time lookerd almost like the texture of sweet peanuts, and they were the shell of the soapnut.......fingers crossed second time round!!

These are great. I'm now using them for the 3rd time with a huge load of washing. I've got loads of the sample left and I'm going to buy more when they are used up.

I used mine for the first time yesterday. I used what I discribe as a small handfull, an amount I could hold in my fingers.

I got a little bag with my order to put them in, same material as the big bag but smaller.

I just left them in the bag and put them in the cupboard under the sink. I understand they change to a darker colour when they're used up, so to speak.

As for the clothes, they did actually seem softer when I took them out of the machine. They are not dry yet, as it rained today, so they are on the airer.

I'm pleased so far, but that said the clothes were not dirty so to speak.
