Dave you must be right about the final spin. I expect being a natural product, rather than manufactured, any residue left does not affect the clothes or people's skin. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

I am very impressed with them. I've done coloureds, darks, whites and they are currently washing their 4th load (or is it 5th?)
Mr TM has one VERY clean sock because I can't find a little bag to put them in0 -
Mine came with a little bag, the same material as the big bag but alot smaller.
I was wondering what to use since the info says "an old sock", we don't have "old socks" just pairs that we wear. :rotfl:0 -
Do they work out cheaper than using a mixture of economy wash powder and washing soda crystals?0

I'm waiting for my sample but was wondering if the clothes come out soft as if you've used fabric softener and has anyone tried adding a few drops of essential oils for fragrance?Dum Spiro Spero0

bham-dave wrote:Still can't believe how they don't leave a residue in the rinse cycle - isn't there still soap in the final rinse? Or is it the case that there IS but it disappears in the final spin?
My theory is that it's all to do with water temperature. During the wash cycle, the water is warm/hot and cold during rinsing. My guess is that the heat helps the nuts soap up and during the cold rinse, there will be no soap released.Herman - MP for all!0 -

At last we've found a use for odd socks:rotfl:The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
Just used mine today, didnt get my washing out as clean - I could still see the dirt on my DS coat, so on the next wash cycle had to bung some powder in.
Maybe I didnt use enough of them? I put 3 in (got 5 in total sample).0 -

From what I've read on this thread so far you need between 5-8 depending on what the water is like in your area, someone said they lived in a hard water area so used 8 but they were able to use them three times.
Hopefully I should get mine in a couple of days, I've already told a couple of people about them and I haven't even tried them yet lol.I hope they work I really need to save some money off the shopping budget.

I bought some soap nuts a few months ago and to be honest I'm not that impressed. Some t-shirts still smelt a little of sweat etc and stains did not come out. I do have pretty hard water and experimented by adding up to 10 half shells a time and it never seemed to make a difference to the washing. They have also never lathered up in the washing machine, so either my water is too hard or the shells are duff.0
