    I've been Money Tipped!
With a really dirty load - i use the same amount of nuts but only fil the machine half full and do a half load at a time - seems to work, as they have more room in the machine to really swoosh around

are you sure you are emailing https://www.inasoapnutshell.com because they dont charge for samples
have a look at the website
if you send a SAE they send them out free
    xxxxxxx
I was emailing the right people- although when I look at the website I see that you are supposed to send an SAE, no? I think it would be nicer to email back to request this, though. Particularly as sometimes they do send out for free!
    PM'd you kipsterbaby.
  • Im going to email and ask if they are still doing the free samples.
    Thanks OP

How would you use them on heavier dirty clothes? Would you just add more?

    Thanks

Personally I would use them and perhaps about a quarter of the amount of powder you usually use.

Thanks for the reply's about the bubbles (or lack of bubbles if you look at it the other way!) I have had a reply to my email and........
Normally you won't get any bubbles but occasionally you will as I did on the last wash so I wasn't under dosing and I wasn't over dosing either :D
I've been a tad paranoid ever since I had froth coming out of the dispenser drawer once :o
Of all the washes I've done only 2 items weren't clean
first was my daughters heavily soiled at the cuffs jacket (and to be honest if I'd been washing as normal with ecover I'd have pretreated it so I wasn't too surprised)
2nd OH t-shirt but then again I think it was already stained around the neck and as everything else in his grubby washing came up clean I think the t-shirt must have been really really grubby around the neck.

    I have ordered more!

PS I know some sites are slightly cheaper but as soap in a nutshell was the one to provide the free sample and also Clare has been so helpful I shall be ordering from Clare for the time being to make sure she recoups the cost of her samples and time - a couple of pennies more but a clear conscience - thanks Clare! :T :T

Ive had a reply from Clair - I sent an e mail yesterday requesting a sample and offering to send a SAE. Claire has asked that people send a SAE as she is getting innundated ( sorry if spelling is wrong ) with requests at the moment as the info has not only gone out here but on a few freebie sites aswell  . She has also seen this thread and is really happy that people like them. I have invited her to post here so that people can ask her questions directly ( hope Im not overstepping the mark there )

    Thanks OP for this tip.

Have ordered a 250g pack from https://www.inasoapnutshell.com (nice packaging and fast delivery) and have done 3 washes already. Clothes came out soft and clean and is so easy to iron.

My sister who has 2 kids and a dog is also very pleased with it too (I gave her some to try) so she has asked me to order some for her.

Have you tried washing soda crystals? They're really good at getting stains out.

They have the cleaning power of a non-bio powder. Please don't compare them to biological detergents containing lots of enzymes etc. There's no law says you can't use these 90% of the time and get in a box of cheapo bio value powder for occasional use for really bad items. You'd still help your skin, the environment and save lots of cash.

I have very hard water and find ds's clothes and nappies come up a treat.

This means for really heavily stained clothes you may need to pretreat (I use old fashioned sunlight or fairy soap, some people swear by washing up liquid or vanish).

For really bad whites I sometimes add a scoop of ecover bleach and line dry (the sun bleaches stains out of baby clothes and nappies really well)

For filthy coloureds (the ex is a builder!) I add a scoop of soda crystals to the wash.

You'd have to do this if using a conventional non-bio washing powder anyway or their wouldn't be quite so many stain removers on the market!

I always use distilled vinegar to rinse instead of fabric conditioner, partly because of it's anti-bac properties for the nappies and partly to protect my washing machine frpm limescale build up. I normally add a little lavender essential oil to the vinegar just for a nice smell for my sheets and towels. (any oil except citrus is fine to use, roman chamomile is best for very young babies)

I'm also an excema sufferer and find that these have really helped my skin in the 2 years I've using them. Laundry detergent is a real trigger for my skin. (to the point where I take my own sheets and towel when I go on holiday!). I'm a complete soapnut convert nowadays having got too lazy to make my own gloop. A 1kg bag lasts me just over a year.
