    Yes, your printers should work just fine. Check the manufacturer's website for a Mac driver just to be sure. Mac OS X also comes with lots of printer drivers pre-installed.

    I like to do a fresh install of OS X when I get a new Mac and during set up remove the drivers and languages I don't need to save some disk space.
    i have found the crucial site and think I could add the extra 2GB of RAM for £20 - is it easy to install myself?

    If you can use a screwdriver, it won't be a problem for you. You can find full instructions starting on page 44 here.

    Worth noting that you'll probably need 2 x 2GB sticks as the installed memory will probably be 2 x 1GB sticks
