Maybe MacBook and PC comparisons should be banned forthwith.-TangleFoot- wrote: »Is this going to happen every time someone mentions the MacBook?0 -
Once again we must disagree, while I agree that there are some decent vodkas out there, JD deserves nothing less than both barrels.... then reload and repeat. I did once overhear someone on a ferry swear blind that whisky was invented by JD himself.:rotfl:Pah, Vodka is the drink of Gods, drunk neat bottle taken from the freezer and poured into a 100ml shot glass also taken from freezer
We digress again but I do also like a nice JD single barrel
Mac's are better as Mac owners have better taste in drinks

You need to give us an idea of your budget.
A PC laptop and a copy of Photoshop Elements will almost certainly work out cheaper than a Macbook, but it's really a matter of price & preference.0 -
Anyhow, the OP wanted something for photo editing and other digital media pursuits, where the Mac wins hands down.
I wouldn't say 'Hands down', but fair enough. They don't want to run a cash register.
Neither do I, but I seem to manage using Windows everyday without it turning into a cash register, infact I use it on my mobile too.
Windows is universally used, pretty much everywhere there is a computer except for, as you have said, Graphic Design studios (and WWDCs) etc.The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Windows on a mobile phone <shudders>, easily the worst interface and poorest OS available today. It's well behind the times, MS have left it languish since older PDA days.
As a professional I find Windows Mobile a total mess, it's been left in the wake by much better mobile-OSs: iPhone, Symbain, Android etc.0 -
No one has mentioned that when you buy a Mac it holds it's value better than a PC will - the OP should take this depreciation difference into account when thinking about the lifetime cost of both products.
I also fail to see how 'Start, Programs, Internet Explorer' is quicker than just clicking on Safari from the dock, as just one example.0 -

Or clicking on the icon for IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera or whichever browser you use in the quicklaunch bar.. You could even assign a shortcut key if you wanted a very simple, no fuss and quick way of opening programs..0 -

So you can have shortcuts to programs on a Mac? thats amazing my windows PC doesn't let me use shortcuts to the programs I like to use and put them on my desktop or quick launch bar...

. It has to have a store that you can take it to for repairs, advice, and training on using it. It also has to be able to natively run Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.
I've only ever found the Apple store to be a complete waste of time and money. PC World with a shiny white plastic cover imo.0
