    A question -

Why would an ebay seller list a book and link through to amazon where it clearly states it is going for a lot more than it is being sold for??!!

Several reasons..firstly a heavy coffee table book still only gets the basic Amazon postage allowance so selling it on ebay and showing the Amazon price as being say £15, but charging actual postage charges on ebay may net more.

Secondly, just because it is listed for a lot on Amazon doesn't mean it is worth that much..especially if the mega listers are involved, so you can make your fairly ordinary book look good by showing the Amazon price. A tip would be to check out the Amazon ranking to get a vague idea if it is a seller or not.

Another reason may be that seller wants to turn round his stock quickly, so after several months they sell their 'stuck' stock on ebay..as even getting say £10 on ebay is better than storing a £30 Amazon book for years and not selling it.

The most expensive book I have sold in the past month is
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0876302924/203-6678866-9855111

for a whopping £23.00. This was a book I actually owned which made it all the more sweeter. Bought from a charity shop a couple of years ago for £1.

    Hello.

I hope it's okay to make my maiden post here, but a friend recommended this site and being a bit of a booky person, I noticed this thread. (I'm supposed to be looking for the pros and cons of renting a house lol).

I've sold a few books on various sites, and have a small list of books that sold for what I thought were good prices, so I'll check through my e-mail and post a list. It might help someone? :)

No time to read from the beginning so apologies if this book has had a mention, but here's one of my better sellers that I picked up relatively cheaply - about £1.

Billionaire: Life and Times of Sir James Goldsmith [Hardcover] by Fallon, Ivan - £35.00

(Very appropriate for this site too lol). It was a solid but heavy book, with a slightly tatty DJ, and one I might have overlooked in a charity shop because of the weight.

    Hope it helps someone.

Thanks for the welcome Soolin, I think I will (worrying about buying and selling houses can be a bit much, especially on a Friday afternoon ;) ), but there was a question about GreenMetropolis that I wanted to ask about, so I'll ask there :)
