There are too many autobiogs out there, Colleen and Chantelle for a start. Hair stylists and tanning salon employees are unlikely to pay good prices for these, so i stear well clear when i see them.

In fact most medical textbooks specifically about feet sell well. Are we training up an extra load of chiropodists or podiatrists in this country now?

I wonder about text books when i see them in charity shops etc, I always assume they are in there cos they are obsolete, and that no one will want them cos they are no longer set texts or relevant practices etc.

Surely books about law etc become irrelevent on a yearly basis?

  • check ISBN's very carefully on textbooks - many do not last well except for very specific medical ones.

I would be very wary of law, tax, sociology, psychology textbooks unless you know your stuff well.

But I do on occasions take a chance - Forensic Odontology sold very well and I had no idea what it was about really! But as only 50p thought I would chance it.

Yeah, the sean bean book is always on my internal book list of things to look out for.

    Mine too!

A while ago someone posted they had sold a copy for £65 or so if I recall, and I'd seen the book in a charity shop the day before and dismissed it. Went back as soon as I could and of course the blasted thing had gone!

I recently bought 3 copies of x3 by Gary A Braunbeck for £1 each because i judged it to be a cult sci fi/fantasy limited edition hardback. A quick look on amazon confirmed that they were valued at around the £20 mark, but with no sales, and the same on ebay. I listed one on ebay last week for £4.99 BIN just to get rid, and someone emailed me and wanted to know why it was so cheap! I have now done a deal with him and sold all 3 copies!
