Well done on the mile Rachel :T

Glad you found it a bit cooler poorbabe; isn't it great when you feel good for the whole run??

Uk - what can I say? Have a very well deserved rest.

As for me - I DID IT!!!!!! - 16 miles 02:55:38 (10:58/mile) - it was hard and I had to dig deep for each and every mile but I did it. :D:D

I could tell from the start that my calf was still tender, as soon as I accelerated to cross a main road it hurt and when I reached the first incline/hill it hurt. But I found that by taking it very slowly and taking small steps on hills/inclines it reduced to a dull ache. It was mentally demanding as I needed to concentrate the whole way round to stop myself overcompensating with my right leg, avoiding pot holes and looking out for traffic as I tried to stick to the roads.

A deluge of rain between miles 10 - 13 helped cool me down as did a strong headwind. It was raining so hard at one point that the raindrops were hitting my watch and changing the settings. :rotfl:

I was also at the receiving end of an act of kindness this morning. I like to finish my Sunday runs 1/2 - 1 mile from home so I can slow down, walk and generally cool down before I get back. As I stopped and started to walk this morning a runner came up behind me (I had seen him a couple of times during my run) and offered to run with me. He obviously thought that I was flagging and could do with some encouragement!! I politely declined - explaining that I had just finished my 16 miles - but I was very touched that he offered.

    Aren't runners lovely people?? :T:T

I have planned a new road running route on walkjogrun which is 5 miles, hoping to do it after work tomorrow... gotta start pushing those distances.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    Afternoon all!!

Did parkrun yesterday and made it all the way round :D Sadly they were having computer problems so my exact time hasnt been recorded but I was about 29:30 from the people either side...

Rich ran 19:10 and finished 14 and Beer tins ran 23:43 which is 2 seconds off last time - it was pretty hot and tough but I took very it very easy as completing was the main aim - am hoping to knock a bit off that next week at Leeds :D

Well done to Simply, Poorbabe, Krider, Rachael and UK some great running going on all round from beginners to marathon training - exactly what I like to see :D

Off out in an hour or so for a long run - Rich is hoping for 21 miles and I'm hoping for something around 10 :D

Okay been out - boy that was tough - took me 7 miles or so to warm up!!! I had a few 'quit' moments but I stuck at it and did 10 miles in 1:52 or 11.2 mins/mile - had some niggles and a lot of miles in the legs so it looks okay for next weekends 1:45 providing its not too hilly :p

Done 36 miles this week, 2 speed sessions and two long runs so not bad at all...bring on next week! :D

    Happy running all!

Brilliant progress Simply - another new distance! These goals are falling weekly  Could have done with some rain on my route yesterday - though perhaps not quite as hard as to press buttons on devices!

Sounds like the Wimbledon parkrun went well - and doing well on those miles again becky.

Good luck on the new 5 mile evening jaunt bank_of_slate. I'm planning on a lunchtime run tomorrow - hopefully cooler than it has been of late!

Edit: meant to say Simply, that the runner you encountered restores ones faith in humanity ! That was a really nice thing to do.

evening all, Did my 5k race today but was abit disapointed as i had to walk around the 1k mark as i couldnt breath it was so hot and dry (race only started at 11am) so that really got me down and i thought i had no chance, but did a run walk race and was really suprised when i finished in 35.30 i thought i was looking alot later than that. so maybe if i could have caught my breath id havee got a really good time in but im still suffering now with my asthma cough due to the heat so figure it was better to do intervals and finish than collapse on what to most is a short course.
glad i finished and now have the motivation to do more races when i can, John also sulked as i got a better goody bag tham hes ever had just for doing 5k lol, we got al jkinds water, towel, full size box muscle gel, energy drink chocolate cereal bars a bananna and more so was very impressed. Good running from everyone else
back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed

    Well done JP!!!!

Dont worry racing takes a while to get the hang of - I have gone off too fast before and had to walk some bits...

The good news is you finished and you finished well on the target time you were looking for so that should spur you onto to the next one :D:D

Im sure Rich can back me up but if you want a good days sleep try 20m + :D

only downside was today i found the diffrence between doing 16m and 20m is huge.

Ok i did not eat how i would if running a marathon and yesterday i spent the day shopping in LDN..so on my feet for like 10 hours +

but man i think i said hello to the wall a bit today :D..

still what dont kill you make you stronger another 20m for next sunday :D... can not wait.

However if someone in Hyde park could open the toilets before 10am would be nice.........................

Hey all - have been plugging away with the running - did Race for Life 5k today - my first proper outside race - well race may be pushing it a bit...

Anyway - I finished it, it was worth it - and I have a (very slow compared to all of you so I'm not going to say what it is:o) PB!!

Then came home and ate my way through the contents of the fridge :rotfl:
Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side
