I'm on nights this week, so I can see myself getting home and 6am and going out then! (Been up since 8am so we shall see)
Told OH about the Blackpool half, she was half interested, but needs to beg for time off at work, so fingers crossed I can persuade her

I find the 'heat' worse than straight out sun - its when its hot in the shade I dont like - energy sapping in the thighs I find
I agree - that and muggy - urgh! Yesterday was hot, but the shade was quite refreshing (relatively speaking)

Erm... have you registered Idio? I'm in that one, and I've just been to the website and it says it is now full. Not that I'm aiming at a sub-40 I'd just like to clarify...:rotfl:

Becky - the discussion on the LM route is interesting. I think this is the most apt posting:
"Also, let's not forget that this event isn't really about runners - except the elites, who give it kudos.
This event is about raising money. David Bedford et al are not really concerned about what your average club runner wants or thinks, only about how to maximise the income.
Your average club runner doesn't raise money for charity (although some choose to), and contributes only their entry fee (which is really quite a modest fee).
FLM was billed as the biggest fundraising event in the world, so we know where their priorities lay. They'd rather have someone in a costume shaking a collecting tin than a 3- or 4-hour club runner - it's more camera-friendly.
I doubt that'll change with Mr Branson."
So why they're asking for runner's opinions is a bit of a moot point.:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Morning all
holy pants batman! it's roastin today!!!
it's really getting beyond a joke how all the big running events are getting to the point where unless you're willing to dress up as bob the builder, you won't get a place. What exactly is wrong with just letting people run it because they want to! Beacuse they are competing with themselves and want to see how they've progressed. If the charity aspect is such a big thing, why not hold a seperate race later the same day that is charity runners only?Debt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09Debt @LBM2 =£14,469.97 2nd DFD 14/03/2018 :T

From Sunday's Freckleton Half:
This is a pic of one of the greatest ever marathon runners finishing his last ever half marathon. For those who dont know Ron Hill he's the one with no65. Nobody will run the Freckleton Half in number 65 again as the number was retired at the end of the race. (The guy alongside is Bryan Porter, the race organiser, who stuck to him like glue)
And this is a random one of me somewhere, but not sure where:

The poor boy behind you looks like hes struggling Rich
I did another 4 miles today in 40:19 so getting better but I really had to push, looking forward to my rest day tomorrow then hoping to get around 35 minutes on Saturday (over 10 minutes off pb )...
I saw that reply by the way...a few of them think that on there which is nice to see...
Also had an annoying twitter from runnersworld yesterday that just exposes how stupid they are:
'Another excuse to drink coffee: Indiana University researchers find that coffee can be as effective as an inhaler: http://!!!!!!!.com/kljlt6'
Anyway if you check out the report the study was only done on 10 patients and it was carried out with pure caffiene at 9 milligrams per kg which would be stronger than even a double expresso...just shows you what idiotic people they are aiming the magazine at if they think that the study represents a good balanced argument to drink more coffee *rolls eyes*0 -
Well done Becky, is it nice to get back out there?0
