The online payment systems often go wrong - its happened with 3 races for us in the last 3 months, so its not a subtle way of telling you that the application was unsuccessful.
As a race organiser you can always allocate a few extra places for 'admin issues' anyway....so you should be okay!:D
thank you - I've e-mailed them, that's the only contact details there are. There is an option to post a cheque, but I'm wondering if it's too late? Hmm. Hopefully they'll reply to the e-mail, and I'll keep trying the payment system. Pain in the neck!0 -
Right well I have pre registered my interest for the GNR (expect i wont get a place) And My current aim if i got in will be <2hrs theoretically if i ran one now i would do it in 2:22 ish
Am I aiming to low as in not aiming fast enough? Obviously I will be running races before that (if i got in hehe):staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0 -

Its only really yourself that can determine what is the right target time.
To determine what is realistic, times from 5K/10k/10 miles races run between now and then will give a very accurate indication of what you can expect.
What is the 2:22 based on?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

My current 'easy' run pace according to my running log. I'm using the david hays one. Its helped to remotivate me because I can see how i am progressing over time rather than relying on a single 'training' run. I have put all my runs in since i started logging them in april. I suspect I would be rather slower at this moment in time although I will know better after tomorrows long run because some of it is skewed by the shorter runs .
I do have a stone to lose yet. I am going to try and do heaton park this week if I can get my folks to either come along or have the kids while i do the run. I work every other weekend and have the kids on my weekend off so it makes runs difficult to manage.:staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0 -
Sounds a bit complicated to me!:p
Only kidding! - predictors are fine but if you're looking for a prediction of race pace it can only really come from other races.
If you take your Heaton Park 5K pace, a realistic 1/2 marathon pace would be 40-50 secs/mile slower.
So, if the 5K was 31:00 (10:00 /mile) then 1/2 marathon pace would be 10:40 - 10:50/mile ie 2:19:40 - 2:21:50.
Of course that doesnt mean that running a 31 minute 5K means that you can automatically run a 2:20 half, but as long as the appropriate distance work and weekly mileage is achieved then it will be a pretty accurate predictor.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Its actually very uncomplicated it does most of the work for you . a good bit is you can put your intended milage for each day weeks in advance (like my plan from becky ). yeah ok its a bit nerdy but i like it.
Guess the only way forward is to try and get some races and consistent running under my belt now everything has settled down homewise.:staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0 -

That 24:46 5K shows that you can easily get under 2 hours, Mascott....so good luck with that.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Indeed my 5k pb is 24:38 and my half pb (set around the same time) is 1:56:11 so you should easily go under 20
