I am going to run to my exercise class in the morning just doing 3 miles as I ran 4miles yesterday my question is do I need to get another run in before the 10k race on Sunday or will tomorrows run be ok to be the last? I have exercise classes tomorrow, Wed & Thurs so I am struggling to get another run in but if its needed then I will have to have a rethink.

I would leave it Hannah and relax a bit but do a mile or so (very slow) warm up on the day to ease out any stiffness left in the legs from exercise class :D

  • Ooh, Hannah - exciting!
  • OK, who understands how race places are allocated? I applied for the 10k in Inverness, with a friend. Then my husband applied a few days later, all got e-mails, saying when payment received - a place was allocated. Thought no more.

My pack arrived today, but not hubbys, we logged on and it says his payment hasn't been received. Not that he didn't get a place.

We've no idea why they didn't take the payment, and now it says online payment not available, and entry closed. But his application details are all there???

So, is this a really cryptic way of saying he didn't get a place, or should I be trying to contact them to make his payment. So annoying!

I do have a race pack for the friend who dropped out though - grrrr! Could he run as her?

he's going to be so gutted if we all have places and not him.
  • Bj - You'll just have to get in touch with them and ask. But I would be almost certain that he'll have a place.

The online payment systems often go wrong - its happened with 3 races for us in the last 3 months, so its not a subtle way of telling you that the application was unsuccessful.

As a race organiser you can always allocate a few extra places for 'admin issues' anyway....so you should be okay!:D

Just got my race pack through for marathon, which is exciting but the total distance is 1/2 a mile over marathon- is this normal? seems a bit strange to me, and I know its only an extra half mile but........

If it isnt 26 miles 385 yards then it aint a marathon!

So in a nutshell, no its not normal.......but some low key events do tend to use the word 'marathon' quite loosely.

I've no knowledge of that particular event, is it new?

  • Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, there's a 5K and 10K too.

Not too keen now though, now I realise the 10K has about 6,000 runners - argh!
