Oi by the way Linda - did you report your run?? Its worth shouting about

Which one? last nights?
another 12 miles, quite comfortably too :T
little bit achey today but not half as bad as after the last 12 miler.
I'll be doing a short 4 mile recovery run tomorrow then an 8 miler on Sunday followed by a swim then just short ones on the week running up to the GNR
Hoping to drive up to my sis' house (k_bagpuss) on the Friday after work so that Saturday won't be as fraught.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
The less aching is good - it means you are adjusting to the distance work

At least you dont have to get up at 5am on race day :eek:0 -
A lady in my office is also doing the GNR if her foot recovers. The less aching is good - it means you are adjusting to the distance work
At least you dont have to get up at 5am on race day
She did a 10 miler at the weekend and ended up with a huge blister on her right foot, which then got infected.
She's on antibiotics and the physio told her to strap it up and run each evening starting with 1 mile then increasing the distance by 1 mile every night.
she's wondering what the hell to do now.

Ouch sounds like Hypno's compression blisters before FLM - hers healed in time but it did hamper her training - she had to get new shoes in the end as it was the shape of the inside causing the problem...
I've never had blisters but then I wear neutral shoes - it seems to be a problem with control ones to stop rolling as they are built up on the inside which is the softest part of your foot!
Two pairs of socks, compeed and time are all that can help really - the infection should clear up in a few days then its just wait and see I guess. She could still defer o next year couldnt she if she really had to??0 -
I ran 4.7 tonight. Planned 6.3 for Saturday am!
My distances seem like a walk in the park compared to some of your runs!! I'm enjoying it anyway, and recovering a lot quicker after each run. I had my normal breathing back in 2 minutes tonight!
Think I need some new trainers...
Saz x:heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0 -
Well done, Saz!
You're making some quick progress there....now that you're over the 4 mile mark for individual runs you will find increases in distance a lot easier to achieve.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
