Good luck tomorrow K_bagpuss!
So since my return to running my parkrun results are quite encouraging:
4th July - 29:34
11th July - 27:08
18th July - 27:08
25th July - 27:32
8th August - 26:32
9th August - 26:19
15th August - 26:22
29th August - 25:57
5th Sept - 25:40
Which shows that while the times are dropping they are not dropping consistently every week - an important point to remember if it feels like you are reaching a progress plateau
Overall though a 3:54 improvement in total distance or 1.15 seconds per mile!!!!0 -
K-bagpuss - hope the 12 miler goes well x
krider - yes very pleased and very  at just how quickly I have got into the running. :T at your longest run.
Becky - I think I would really struggle on an un-known route as today as I was driving down that road this morning at 6am to the carboot sale, I was passing my 1,2,3 etc mile markers and checking my watch!it was early! lol
Following :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -
Hmmm not feeling well, can't run because my family have deserted me this weekend but probably good as I can get rid of this whatever it is...sore throat, sore ears, light-headed, feel sick... bleurgh.
Will be back soon x0 -
Hope you feel better soon evab!0

I've started running!
Me and my friend started doing 2.2 miles, we added a bit, 2.7, then 4.2 and today we did 5.9! We're booked in for the cancer research 10k run on 18th october at Harewood House. If we can do 5.9 I think we might just make 6.2 by october!
We're going out around 3 times a week, weather depending!
I'm really enjoying it, never thought I'd enjoy running but it is quite addictive!!

xxx:heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0 -
Well done on getting into running Sarah - good luck for your 10k!!!
I think thats quite a hilly course - so try to get a few hill runs in if you can before the date0 -
Thanks for that :-) It does say it's a challenging run lol The run we do has a few ups and downs, not sure if they'd be classed as hills though? We're going to plan a new route for a bit of a change of scenery, I'll be sure to add in some hills :-)

Welcome to the club Saz!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Hi Guys, Did the Roundshaw park run again today - 31:59, which is 50 seconds faster than last time, haven't done it for 5 weeks. But know where near my sub 10 minute miles of earlier in the week. boo hoo.
Feel a bit fed up, 'cos there are only 8 people slower than me out of 60! Feels like I'm working hard, but not getting too far. Going to try a long slow run again tomorrow - struggle to do the slow bit and then burn out!
Hannah - you're going great guns, and I'm tapping into the advise given you, so thank you. Do you have a target time for your 10K? I'm meant to be doing 10K in October, but I'm really wondering now if I can make 10K as a race by then.
Becky - you're doing so great darlin'! Well done you.
Sarah - welcome, great isn't it? You'll love this thread!
i've just caught up on 3 pages of posts, and can't reply to all of you - but everyone is making such good progress - it's so good to part of this team, otherwise I'd have defo given up by now.
No idea where to run to extend my distances, can I sketch routes on that map my run thingy? Or is there a site with recommended routes for certain areas?
How far is a lap of Battersea park? That's not too far for me to go.
Thank you guys.0 -
B.J. - 50seconds over 5 weeks is 10 seconds a week!!!! Thats a great improvement
Select 'new map' on mapmyrun to draw new routes - the lap we do of Battersea is 2.11 miles round which includes the front on the river which is very nice views0
