    Week 19/21 (Fleetwood)
    Mon24/8 Rest Day
    Tues25/8 10.0 Miles 1:08:58 (6:54/mile) [68.08%]

    Sun30/8 10.0 Miles 1:06:41 (6:40/mile)(Pulse 132)+4 Miles WU/WD [70.41%]

The purpose of today's run was to fulfill the function that last week's half marathon was supposed to - ie a sustained rhythm run on flat terrain to replicate the conditions that will be present in Fleetwood.

The other rhythm runs so far have been good confidence boosters but have all been on hilly courses except the Sale 10 race, so there was a requirement to get another one under the belt.

Anyway, it couldnt have gone better. 10 miles around Battersea Park with the pace picking up the more the run progressed, with the last 10K taking 39:47. That puts everything well on track - two remaining key sessions, the Spencers Arms Dash on Wednesday and then the BUPA 10K in Sheffield next Sunday.......and then all set for Fleetwood.

    14 Days To Marathon Day

Becky was happily getting stuck into her attempt at 16 miles - when I left she had covered about 9 miles and was looking strong and smiley so I suspect she'll complete the job, or at least get 14 done. Thats the good thing about using laps of Battersea, you can always amend the length of the run according to how you're feeling.:D

Update: Becky completed the 16.0 Miles in about 2:50ish so everyone has achieved their distance goals today. Good work.:D

Wow you lot are certainly putting the miles in, well done.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get out as dh is currently sleeping due to far too many alcoholic beverages! I'll make him pay by getting the kids up early in the morning :-)

:T to everyone today, even those disappointed with their runs (I can't even imagine doing those distances yet)

I am getting out early doors in the morning too and leaving dh to the boys Evab, that will teach him for getting me to deal with the worst nappy change of the day! ha :p

My plan for this week is
    Week 9 -

    Mon - 3m
    Thu - 3m
Sat - 6m (I can't believe that the time has come to attempt this distance yet! If I hadn't joined this thread I would have been on week 9 of couch 2 5k and only running 3 x 30min sessions this week )
Rich, thanks for putting me on the race list too x
Following :money: to keep us debt free :j

Yeah so I was aiming for 16 miles in 2:56 today and managed 2:50 by picking up the pace in the last few miles which is great :D

So this week I have done:
    Tues - 5.5 miles in 53:44 9:57 mins/mile
    Weds - 6.2 miles in 57:47 9:19 mins/mile
    Thurs - 10.2 miles in 1:42 10:00 mins/mile
    Saturday - 5 miles of which 3.1 parkrun in 25:57 8:22 mins/mile
    Sunday - 16.5 miles in 2:50 10:18 mins/mile

    Total mileage 43.4 miles :j:j

Linda - you had a bad run and managed 8 miles - can you imagine saying that 6 weeks ago!!! :D

Good luck Hannah for next week!!!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Some good running today guys - nice mileage and pace getting achieved. Enjoy the bank holiday those who have it off work

Legs quite achey this morning when I got up which is a sure sign of repair (or progress as rich likes to call it :)) for me rather than just fatigue so daft as it sounds, it makes me happier with yesterday. That and I ground the miles out and did the whole distance on tired legs.

Hopefully this coming week the runs will be a bit more comfortable.

Its always good to look back when you feel the progress isnt as fast as you'd like - it does remind how far you've come :D

You'll be cracking the 12 miles in no time!
  • Yaaaaay, well done Becky - great running this week :T :T
