  • I'm a bit behind on the thread, having taken 2 weeks away - far too much to read through!

Hannah, hey - we've so much in common - I started in Oct 07 at 17 stone, aiming for 10 stone with about a stone to go to target.

Are you following a plan? Which one?

Has anyone used the Runnersworld plan tool? It seems to only want to give me 16 week plan with some hugely varying pace targets. What does everyone think of it?

OH AND YESTERDAY I BROKE THE 10 MINUTE MILE BARRIER - WOO HOO! 3.5 miles, 9:42 mile average!!! Such a nice feeling, I'm so chuffed!

    Morning all!

Was very tired this morning as well as stiff so swapped out my interval session till tomorrow - did a nice easy 4 but have no idea of the time as had a bit of user error with the watch (i.e. I forgot to stop it at one junction then stop it when the light was green and only restarted at the next - oppps :p)

Well done on the great run B.J. :D

:D Thanks for the lovely comments x
BJ - well done on your losses too! I go to Rosemary Conley classes which I have found to be fab. Started the running 9 weeks ago and that has really helped boost my weightloss (maybe not this week as class leader on holiday so I haven't done as many exercise sessions as normal!) How have you lost your weight?

Becky, sounds like me trying to get to grips with my watch.

Good morning all you road trotters!

I did my long run after a 12hr shift yesterday. I cant say I was looking forward to it but I have my Half marathon on Sunday....

Well, it went very well. I felt fresh as anything (didnt smell too fresh though!)all the way and I was a lot quicker than I had hoped.

My Garmin is bloody useless as it is calibrated all wrong so I mapped it out as about 10.5 miles and I did it in 1hr35mins.

I feel fine today. So I will have a nice easy jog home (6k)

I really concentrated on my stride pattern on this run, just making sure I kind of bounced along and tried to keep my legs lifting up rather than just plodding along......seemed to work for me!

Reading through all the posts recently people are geeting very good results.

Becky... I see you did your long run through Battersea park..... thats where I ended up last night for a couple of loops. I will really miss it when I move.....(off to Tunbridge Wells in Dec.) Also..... wish I'd bought a cheapy watch as my not so cheapy one eats batteries and doesnt work!!

Well done Hannah on your progress.......getting a bit addicted are we!!

Well done to Sailaway.... nice to break those "barriers" that seem so for away when you start

Come on Pickle...... get those traners out!

  • Nice running, Mascott - that should help with confidence for the half.

We do most of the long runs in Battersea - its perfect for rhythm running where you specifically want to get into an uninterrupted flow. Its intriguing how the nature of the park users change over the course of a 20 miler - it all adds to make a run more interesting.

You soon get used to a new set of routes when you move to a new area though.:D

BJ - Fantastic news on the new milestone. That should put an extra spring in your step for the next few runs!:D

Got out on sunday and completed 12.25 miles in 1:58:57, so very happy as its still under the 10 min pace that i want to try and stick to.

There has been some great running over the past few weeks, keep it up

  • It's so good reading about everyone's progress, when you feel tired and weary this thread is really enough to get you up and out the door!

There's a nice 10K coming up in November in Beddington Park near us, Becky/Rich, that's probably easier for you to get to than the Park Run at Roundshaw, just a thought. So, that's another nice little target for me!

Has anyone used the Runners World running plan thingy? Does anyone rate it? Or can you recommend a site/ book to design a plan? Someone else recommended Mcmillan, but that doesn't seem to do you a plan, more recommended/estimated times and speeds - all a bit complicated to me!
