Well done simply
..
only downside of it is that in about 1 - 2 hours this is the only thing that will be on your mind.
and your 20 mile pace was faster than your 18...:T
Thanks Uk; I've just eaten a huge Cornish Pasty because I was starving - it's not something I would even consider eating normally.
I'm pleased, but don't understand why, my pace was faster - mile 6 took over 13 minutes because of the loo stop so I was quite a bit faster overall.
I'm very pleased to get the first 20 miler done though.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Wow well done SimplyThats fantastic - I'm soooo chuffed for you!!!
On the good side I made it up the monster hill today twice, but I wasnt feeling great all the way (too many bubbles last night) and it was 10.5 miles in 1:59 and then a 2.5 mile walk home
Hello Becky masquerading as Rich - good isn't it???? I'm sitting with a silly grin on my face, driving my OH mad.I've been soooo tired this week that I really thought that I might have to cut the run short - I'm a stubborn moo though and once I got to 15 miles there was no way I was going to quit.
Well done on doing the monster hill twice (despite the bubbles) - that must have taken some determination!!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Sun16/8 20.3 Miles 3:25:57 (Pulse 86)
The last distance run before Fleetwood today with the main aim being to finish with a fast 10k from 15.8 miles to 22 miles.
So ran the first 10 miles with Becky and then gently accelerated through to 15.8 to start the final 10K. From that point everything felt strong but I was feeling a slight strain in the adductor that got a bit damaged in last week's interval session. It will be absolutely fine but after doing 4.5 miles of the planned 10K I felt like I had learned what I needed to know.....the pace for that section was equivalent to 47 mins for a 10K, and equivalent to 45 mins on a flat course. And that was after twice as much bubbles as Becky!:p:p
Bearing in mind the fastest 10K I have managed at the end of a marathon is 49 minutes I have to take a lot of positives out of that.
Fantastic effort, Simply, theres no stopping you now.......and to think that you used to think that 20 miles was a long way!;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

:j Hello, hope you don't mind me joining you x
I started running 6 weeks ago, using the couch 2 5k podcast and today completed my 1st 25min run :j:j very happy as 6 weeks ago I really struggled with running for even 1 minute.
A lady who goes to the same slimming class as me suggested running and it was something I had never thought about doing before but I definately have the running bug now. Well anyway she is doing a 10k run locally in 6weeks time and she had asked me a couple of times if I wanted to do the 10k too and I had kept saying no cos it was too soon but for some reason this morning I signed up for it and paid my money and now feel a bit :eek:
In Oct 2007 I was 16st 9lb and sat everynight on the sofa now nearly 2yrs on I have lost just over 4 1/2 st (and had a baby) am doing 5 exercise classes a week & taken up running!Following :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -

Equivalent to a 47 min 10k!! (I wish) - and at the end of a 20 mile run - amazing Rich
20 miles? Pah - a short Sunday stroll :rotfl::rotfl: Seriously though - I've broken through a huge psychological barrier today - Abingdon here I come
Hello and welcome 1HANNAH; being able to run for 25 minutes after just 6 weeks is a great achievement - well done :T2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
I'm back and pleased to say I managed my 8 miles which is a first for me too! I can't claim to have done it with no walking breaks but it took me 1hr 45mins in total which isn't too bad I'm hoping. Nike plus thingy said I burned up 1259 calories!Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0

Hi 1Hannah - nice to meet you!
Congrats on running for that length of time. I can't believe you have come so far in 6 weeks. That's definitely my motivation to see if I can do that. I swear I'd die after about 30 seconds at the minute. I've also gone to download that podcast you mentioned. I never considered that there might be running podcasts. I've got about 4 downloading now, to compare them all!
Thanks for the tips, and keep posting. It's nice to see another relative newbie on board, and I'm sure the 10K will go swimmingly at the rate you are going! Please call me 'Pickle'

I wander off for my run and look at all the good things that have taken place in the meantime :T:T:T
Simply - woohoo, yay you :j:j:j
Becky - hills after bubbles -I'm very impressed!
1Hannah - welcome and congrats :T
k_bagpuss - you did great considering the heat out there :T
So I finally crawled out at just gone 2.30pm not expecting it to be as 'warm' as it turned out to be . My aim was 13.1 miles @ 9.37 pace = 2:05:59 using my trusty Garmin. I had water and gell stuff and had had a good brekky plus water so I was in good shape, or so I thought .
I started off well, forcibly kept pace with my Garmin and didn't storm ahead which is my usual style. Felt great when I got to Richmond Park (Roehampton Gate) and turned round to come back. I started to flag at 11 miles but the gel helped with a bit of water. On reflection I should have gone out with more water, but thanks to the pub at East Hill who topped me up :T. I discovered that the stop/start at road crossings when you are coming to the end of your distance is really off-putting (legs) and I struggled to get up to speed each time. 11.5 to 13.1 was a real struggle and I ended up finishing in 2:07:51 (ave pace 9.43).
On the other hand I ran better than my last half marathon which I did in 2:10 so I should stop beating myself up shouldn't I?The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
