Being i was a lazy !!!! this morning and then wanted to watch the althletics i opted for the treadmill option today. Was considering going for my treadmill record of 16.5 miles but being i was having trouble maintaining optimal position when Jessica was on telly i stopped at 9.2 miles in 90 mins.

Rich £25 for a 10k or the £12-15 for Compton challenge (its 40 miles off road ;)) i know which i'd choose :p

    Morning!

    I am pink - oppppssss ;)

Rest day for me today and I'm going to have a look at my plan and shave off some miles this week - looking forward to 200m intervals tomorrow though :D
  • Just been out for a gentle 5 mile run in the rain @ 7:25min/mile pace (last mile at a comfortable 6:43min/mile pace).....should mean it will be extra humid tomorrow for my 10 miler :(

Got a marathon in just under 4 weeks and still haven't bothered going past 16.5 miles yet. Meant to on Saturday, but stopped at just over 15 miles due to the strong winds. Still, 2 more opportunities available or I could do one during the week (have ran marathons before so I'm quite capable of getting around although not overly well!)

Short race next week which is a guaranteed PB as I've never raced that distance before, and a tougher 10 mile run the weekend before my marathon as a final training run before I decide to, or not, taper.

    Morning all,

Well after doing my first 25min run yesterday my legs feel like lead this morning ;) so my plan is just to do some more streches this morning and then do my normal aerobics class tonight. I better go and look at the calendar for this week and work out how to fit my 3 runs in as I am housebound most of the week as my eldest (3yo) has chicken pox.

Morning all, wow some fantastic runs going on here - huge well done simply on your 20 miles :j.

Rich - all I can say is I'm shocked that you have sold your soul :D

I've had a fab weekend with friends and family celebrating my ds 1st birthday, obviously we have to celebrate for him , I made sure I went out for my long run on Saturday morning as I knew I wouldn't get the opportunity otherwise. I felt OK for most of the run but at mile 8 my legs just seemed to seize, I took on some fluids and within a couple of minutes I felt much better and was able to get back home feeling more comfortable.

    Mon 10/8 7.05m 1:18:02 (11.04/mile)
    Tues 11/8 8.04m (with hills) 1:3102 (11.19/mile)
    Weds 12/8 4.63miles 0:49:16 (10:39/mile)
    Thurs 13/8 3 mile intervals (09:43,09:23,09:34)
    Fri 14/8 Rest day
    Sat 15/8 10.73 miles 2:04:03 (11:33)

Total mileage for week = 33.45 miles :D

Well done Evab on a great running week :D:D

Inapickle - we dont recommend the C to 5k on this thread (although there is a whole thread on it in the health and beauty forum) because it involes the dreaded run/walk/run...if you think about Poorbabe's post:
I discovered that the stop/start at road crossings when you are coming to the end of your distance is really off-putting (legs) and I struggled to get up to speed each time. 11.5 to 13.1 was a real struggle

You can see how even for experienced runners re-starting after stopping and allowing the muscles to get cold can be really hard work!

Hi willstewart dont think I've seen you around before - which mara are you doing? Whats you target time? Sorry to hear the training hasnt quite been going to plan, but there's always something to improve for next time!

Well done on the long run Uk :D

1HANNAH - that shows your muscles are getting improvement from the work and is good news - just be gentle to your legs for a day or two! :D

Some great activity going on at the moment.

UK - you kept that 20 miler quiet while you were posting throughout the day! As with Simply its not long since 20 mile was a bit of a challenge, now its a Sunday morning pre-breakfast jaunt.:D

Evab- Nice training week, logical and consistent. That mountain can be beaten!:D

Willstewart - which marathon are you doing - Robin Hood, Fleetwood, somewhere else?

Hannah - Stiffness is inevitable, but keep moving as much as you can.

£25 for 10K - I'm still ashamed of myself if that makes things any better. I'm assuming that the fee covers perpetual entry for as many years as I want to do it?;)

Just realised that the RFLs at £13 fior 5k are even worse...and there are thousands upon thousands queueing up to part with their money...they must be mad. How do they cope with the guilt?:p

Noooo dont worry! If it works for you then thats great - but the injury risk with a run/walk/run programme is much higher than a walking leading to running programme :D

20 miles from 3 of the group - I'd drink to that but I really think I had enough on Saturday.

Was a bit peed off when a couple of people asked my dh when we were doing the run, but he quickly said no it's Ev's run she's doing herself! Cheeky moos do they think I need someone to hold my hand.

Anyway I was really chuffed that I was able to catch the last bit of athletics last night to see Jessica Ennis win - small but powerful, and I can't stand Kelly Sotherton so I was glad she wasn't there. Hmm and the don't blink else you've missed it antics of Usian Bolt - amazing!

Great to see some more people on here, welcome and hope you get a lot out of the support and encouragement that these lovely people give x
