Hey - you look neck and neck to me! Bloomin' well done! How is Becky?0

Shes okay, but has a bit of a chesty cough...so just has to wait for it to clear up.
Half choking on a piece of garlic bread this afternoon probably wasnt the best way to go about curing it though!:rolleyes:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

And speaking of Becky, this is one from this morning's race:

Is that a man with an Ipod I spot?
Thats surprising considering the strength of the warning at the start about the new strict clampdown and the fact that official referees were at the race.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Ah, Becky is smiley girl, even when she's not well. What's the ipod clampdown then?0

I know, its a permanent smile!
She'll be pleased to know that the guy wearing 92 finished in 1:30:08. She was aiming for 1:35 so was well up with the pace while it lasted.:D
Ipods have never been allowed, but the rule has been administered in a fairly relaxed way. But they are dangerous for road racing so I would assume the UK Athletics overall insurers will be tightening their stance.
Why does anyone need an Ipod in a race anyway????Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I think it's great the way that Becky smiles her way through races; you wouldn't know that she was feeling unwell. She looks like a celeb running with her bodyguards in that photo:rotfl:
Re. ipods - I was horrified at the amount of people wearing them in yesterday's race. Most of the race was down country lanes that were open to traffic and we only had a police presence on the most winding lanes during the first few miles. People were ignoring the instruction to keep to the left and were running down the middle of the lanes unaware that cars were behind them waiting to pass. You can tell I wasnt feeling well by the bad style though - normally at that point in a flat race I would not be so 'closed up' but I was lacking the energy to flow properly...
Anyway still a bit chesty - its nothing too bad so I think I'll have a crack at intervals tomorrow - I just wasnt feeling it yesterday and you can really put yourself off racing sometimes if you struggle on when you feel like that so I decided to quit!
Told you it was a fast womens times Rich
Love that comment Simply!!!
Well done on your race

And that guy 92 was wayyyyy gone by the second lap sadly - I knew it was time to call it a day when 4 miles was 38 minutes and I was feeling sick already!0

Glad you're feeling a bit better Becky, well done you for trying but then listening to your body.0

Thanks evab - well done on your run yesterday

I dont think it helped me in that race that the 2 mile marker was about 150m out - went through 1 mile in 8:25 (yes I know too fast) and 2 in 18 and was well annoyed with how much I had slowed down - it was only afterwards when Rich mentioned it that I realised what had happened (it does happen in races sometimes that the markers are put in the wrong places) - if I'd realised I might have carried on becuase I wasnt goingas slowly as I thought...but ah well I feel better for not pushing too hard yesterday anyway so it was a good thing to rest I think!0
