I have been nursing a monster hangover all day. I dont drink very often and I reckon I havent drunk that much for 10 years!! wasnt really planning to but it was a fun night!
i need to run off all those beer calories now!
Rich, my time was 26.21. finished 105/144
i looked at my garmin and it logged me as running another 250 metres i will have to find a way to calibrate it. i am pleased with my time as i know i can do better so its a good marker!
Thanks for that Mascott!
Good first parkrun, I'm sure you'll get involved with them on a regular basis now. The WAVA for that run is 49.75%, slightly les than you'll see on the parkrun site due to their basis being older world records.
I can assure you the Wimbledon course isnt 250m too long, its measured with a measuring wheel so you could use it as the basis for your calibration if you need a benchmark.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

Evab - according to your blog, I'm 12 years older than you! But at least I don't have to change nappys anymore! (Just pay uni fees!)0

well then simply i'd better get training, coz it took you 13 minutes more to do 13 miles than it took me to do 10 miles!
Ah I long for the day not to have to change another nappy!0 -

cheers Rich.
... good idea, next time i run i will attempt to do that.
need to get some miles under my belt ready for my half marathon.
my best time when i last ran one (3 years ago) was 2.31 so i have decided on 2.15 as a target. i was going for 2hrs but i think i am just not quite there. i havent had time to get enough mileage in. looking forward to it anyway...Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

Anglesey 1/2? September 20th not far to drive!
Hmm, thanks evab but I think that I would have to get up just a little too early for that one :rotfl:
However, Rich could you please add me to the list for the Chippenham Half on Sunday 13 September 2009? It's an earlier start, 09.30, so less chance of it being so hot.

Just seen the results from today's race:
http://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2009/sale10.pdf
Wow!!! The first 3 positions were 47:35, 47:40 and 47:47!
When you consider that the fastest 2009 10 mile in the UK before today was 48:47 it gives some idea what we were involved in!
The guy in 4th was the winner of this year's Edinburgh Marathon in 2:18:24!
Not only that, but the guy in 15th was some athlete as well, Carl Thackery. It is accepted that he actually broke the half marathon world record in a local road race but it never got ratified simply because it was a local road race without all the necessary checks and procedures.
He did, however, finish 3rd in the World Half Marathon championships so proved his credentials anyway.
On the ladies side, the first 3 positions were 54:55, 55:38 and 57:43. This compares to a 2009 10 mile fastest in the UK time of 57:15 before today.
Finishing 77th out of a field of 271 and 10th in age group looked a little disappointing initially but having seen the quality of the field it looks quite respectable now.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

You wont be thinking like that for long if you keep the consistency up!:D
So this is a pic of the fastest 3 10 milers in the country and me trailing distantly in their wake at the same point:

and at about half distance:
