The conditions were perfect for running today dry, sunny and cool. Like Becky I've been running in the mornings recently (usually 5.30 ish) and it's a great time of day to be out and about. My legs felt good this morning so I think I have finally recovered from my weekend of inactivity.
miss_c I'm no skinny either - one of my favourite runs takes me past a bakers shop and I always enjoy running past there. Not because of people stuffing their faces but just because it smells deeeeeelicious!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

I'm no skinny either- but look a good deal better for running.
Bj-sailaway (it makes me tired looking at it written down too :-) somehow not quite so bad when I manage to force myself out to do it- feel great when I get back and can have a beer without the guilt!)
jjwhittle1981- thanks for encouragement-feel more positive knowing that i'm on the right track.
simplycynical- your marathon on same day as mine- is it your first? notice you are doing a half in few days time- wondering if I should try and find a race or 2 before marathon- any thoughts?(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0 -
Hi tq; yes, it's my first. I started running outside in Feb this year and am following a training plan that Becky kindly prepared for me; I'm aiming to finish Abingdon in around 4.30 if I can.
My plan has a 10k, half marathon and 20 mile race scheduled in so I'm trying to fit those in following the plan as closely as I can. I'm sure when Becky, Rich or Uk come along later they'll be able to advise you better than I can about races (I still class myself as a newbie and don't feel knowledgeable enough to give out advice)2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Wow, I've just taken a look on here and you guys are inspiring. I'm hoping to run a marathon next year, but am in dissertation hell so currently not training for it. I'm going to come back in a month or so for advice when I can really focus on it. I will be going from 0 - running machine, though, so I'll need lots of advice!
Still, I really feel like I need the challenge, something to aim for, else I'll just end up carrying on the way I am (which is certainly not healthy).
Good luck, guys! xPlease call me 'Pickle'

Alias - I will sponsor you when my dh gets paid next x
I didn't manage to get out yesterday as training at work took longer than expected but went out this afternoon and did 7 miles in 1:24 which I'm OK about as miles 2-4 along the beach were horrendous due to a very windy wind and sand storm! So would have been a tad quicker without the weather conditions holding me back. I did feel really comfortable the whole way though and even getting to mile 6 was fine and then the last mile is OK as then I'm nearly home so always an incentive to keep going.
Nice run today Simply, I'm rubbish first thing in the morning - at everything let alone running!
Oh and by the way the 'bit' in my 4 and a 'bit' route turned out to be 1/2 a mile.0 -
Welcome to the thread InaPickle; you've come to the right place for support and advice. You'll soon find you're hooked once you get started - running is addictive
That run sounded fun evab. Most of my runs take me along the sea front at some point - the sea breeze is quite challenging at times isn't it? I love that part of the run though especially early morning - it gives me that 'glad to be alive' feelingOooh yes ...... is it this weekend that you are revealing your goal?

I love it down the beach most of the time, I'm lucky enough to live with the sea on one side of the town and the hills and mountains on the other!
Yep will be typing up my post ready to go live on my blog - I told my parents tonight and got the expected reaction of not much and I don't think they quite believe I can actually run as well as I can. Ah well I'll prove them wrong, will be able to talk about it more soon ;-) Hopefully my new t-shirt will arrive tomorrow then I can update my sponsorship page.0 -
