hi all.........i am running home after work tonight at 11pm, i love the city that late ....only me and nutters are out! (and very serious runners occaisionally)after yesterdays 8 miler all feels ok so i cant wait to get out there.its a shame that i am not going to have time to really train properly for my half marathon at the begining of sept. I am not going to put any pressure on myself but I would love to break 2 hrs. i think it is unlikely but i will give it a go to get as much training under my belt as possible.bought new shorts today. maybe i will go quicker.........

The glycogen depletion run on Sunday was a better session than first thought as the body has been requesting nothing other than rest and nutrition for the last 2 days. That means that it was further into new territory than initially expected and therefore more improvement can be expected as a result.

It was time for some more activity tonight though and the muscles were feeling strong during a very enjoyable 13.5 miler.:D

Everything is now focussed on Sunday's 10 miler and, with reasonable weather conditions, a timing of something around 1:03 hopefully.

Remember that 1 pint = 1 mile is the runner's mantra.

So you've got 41 pints in the bag so far....:D:D

    OMG! That's a scary philosophy!

Wow, you guys all really clock up the miles! I'm pleased to top 20 miles in a week, but then, I'm a newbie! Feels such a part of my life now, and I've only been working at this for about 3 weeks! What's happened to me?!

Got to the plan bit in the 'Running Made Easy' book - guess what it says? you guessed it, run 6 minutes walk......... run..... walk....... Stupid plan, that's what nearly made me throw the towel in.

Well done everyone - all going great guns! i'm hot on your heels, trying to catch up!

Arundel - winning time 35 minutes!!! Must be a gruelling course.

Just looked, Arundel will be tough - total respect, if we're at the caravan I'll definitely drive (or cycle!) over to cheer you on. But don't think it'd be a good first try course! 'climbs through the castle grounds' ooh err, you ever been there?!?! Exciting challenge though.

Nothing wrong with a tough 10K every now and again!:D

  • Morning all,

Excellent running everyone, especially the newbies.

Just a quick report on my work organised race yesterday. Well it was WET WET WET it rained all the way round the 5 mile course, was driving into the face on some of the legs as well which made it interesting when starting on the sports pitch thats very slippery.
Was very happy with my time made it round in 44.07 which was a surprise for me as i did 5.5 miles on monday and it took me over an hour so im very happy as it seemed that i havent lost as much fitness as i thought from having 10 days forced rest.

That puts my weekly miles to 10.5 miles

Morning everyone - slight reorganisation this week as am doing all morning runs and am pleased to report a 12.5 miler in 2 hours and 5 seconds which felt good in nice coolness after last nights rain...

Running that far before any food is tough though I think! On the coffee now to recover!
