Ah, well that's good. Well not good, but you know what I mean! At least you don't have the thought of a recurring injury in the back of your mind and can run however you see fit.

I felt comfortable enough last night but I could not push to 4 mile at the moment would be too much as I have only started again!!

This is my 3rd week and I will hopefully get 3.5 miles in this wkd all being well!!

Does 3.5 miles count as approx a 4 miler!!!!

Not me, I was outstanding at sports in school. I only lapsed in my later teens when I discovered girls, booze and fags (long given up). In general, you're right though!

I know its quite funny that - all my 'sporty' school friends dont do much now and I am the 'sporty' one - I find it quite funny tbh :D

(plus when I want to give up on a run I always check with my inner 'lazy person' before I decide to do so - it doesnt happen often - Rich will tell you how stubborn I am :p)

Of course it does better to take longer to get there than injure yourself. The whole 4m thing is from when you can do it comfortably (I think).

Dont forget round up for distance and round down for weight

Good luck you and keep chipping away at that distance :T

I think the 4 miler is more of a general thing i.e. some people might find the benefit kicks in before, others after 4 miles. Personally, my min is actually 4.5 miles "just in case"!

P.S. no point "forcing" 4 miles. You'll get there natuarally.

Mine too actually ;), just in case mapmyrun is out a bit - although in London its likely to be out the other way (i.e too much distance) as it cant work on the paths I use in the park so I just do it roughly :D
  • Wow, this new thread is a bit speedy!!!

Krider - I've decided not to bother with the 1/2 banana pre-run. I must admit that I woke up feeling hungry this morning (??) so had a couple of dried prunes and apricots before I went out but I think I'm just going to go by what my body is telling me.

kycu - I've only run a couple of races and did these on my own. Like you I was a bit nervous about the unknown but on both occasions got chatting to someone and at my last race the chappie that I had been talking to ran with me for the first couple of miles (then I left him behind lol).

I'm glad I'm not alone on the competitive front - I really don't understand all this 'it's the taking part that counts'. Like Beer Tins I am competitive and proud of it - I love a challenge and can't imagine how boring life would be without something to aim for!!
