My hubbie works at a quarry so loads of countryside around him, he tries to go in his lunch hour. I work all over North Wales so can nip home to go for a run, nice to get out of the car for a bit.
  • Good to see the both of you enjoy it!!

My wife was a very good swimmer when she was younger (competed in a lot of events) but she would really like to get back into that!!

She is not keen on running though but I am just I dont like leaving her on her own when I go in the evenings!!

I am hoping to do a 10k in Sep with a friend who completed the belfast marathon in 3:41 mins on May so its something to aim for!!

I hope maybe to try swimming at some point mayb try a triathlon out at a later date!!

Does she have the kids all day, I can understand that you wouldn't like to leave her in the evenings if she doesn't get a break. Is there a park near you that you could run round whilst she keeps the kids busy (weather permitting), and then on another day you all go swimming and she has time to train whilst you entertain the kids?

You'll be fine for the 10km in September with a good running buddy.

You're way ahead of me sammy, you don't have to worry yet.

**Scorybabe makes a mental note that she really needs to know 3 minutes off her pb to be in competition with the samster**;)

Just been trying to work out what date exams will be in June 2010 but I don't care I am going to do the Mersey 10k anyway..

  • My wife works all day to but I want to share the responsibility of raising the kids if you know what I mean!!

No we build a house in the country last year so no park just roads!! I try to leave it as late as possible to go running so both of them are asleep.

My friend doesnt run with me I do it alone and I like this because having a buddy can be competitive which I am not running for I want to improve me rather than using someone else!!

I almost always run alone E.C - I prefer it too - although running with Rich is very eye opening because he barely sweats at my pace even when I'm running full out *rolls eyes* - but there's nothing to beat training on your own and pacing according to how you feel :D

Rich and you are very experienced runners though!! I am just glad to be part of this thread as its very good for advice and motivation!!

HAHAHA Rich is - I only started this time last year :D, hes a very good teacher though - and he basically gives away information that he could probably charge a fortune for if he wanted - its good to have peeps like that around because years of experience can be very helpful - like the tip always take your own loo roll to races :D

What was your first run then? What time did you complete it in?
