    What can I say, I'm impatient :D
    ...Linda xx

    Indeed!:D

I couldn't get in the Leeds Abbey Dash last year, despite trying to enter 6 weeks ahead. It seems it is slowly getting sucked into the charity 'lets bags all the entries before the real runners get hold of them' mentality.

However, its not there yet as can be evidenced from 300 runners being sub 40:00 and 1,000 being sub 45:00 - so it is still clinging to its long standing roots of being a quality, fast 10K.:D

Oh and if anyone's about in London on Sunday...

Catherine Ndereba and possibly Stefano Baldini are running the British 10k - could be good to watch - some fast times usually :D

Baldini should ensure a sub 30:00 clocking as he did in the Bupa10000, but he's not in the class of Mo Farah anymore. Nonetheless, always good to see Olympic Marathon champions in action.:D

    Baldini best 2:07:22 in 2006
Ndereba best 2:18:47 in 2001 (2nd fastest ever)

Because the Official ASICS British 10K London Run is the only road race on the streets of central London which does not penalize or fleece charities by charging them up to hundreds of pounds more than members of the public to take part, over 600 charities will be entering teams this year.

Aha, I love it - an event slag-ging off other events that sell off their places to charities.

They're still doing it though, its only the amount they're arguing about - as soon as an event does that it becomes a charity run and stops being an athletics event. And then the runners stay away except the few elites who are paid to turn up and the entry fees go through the roof!! (As can be seen from the £32 entry fee for this 10K!)

OK, you all sound like amazing running pros! I'm just starting out, I've walked, power walked and resistance trained my way through losing 6 1/2 stone. I'm now 5'5" and weigh 11st. I've been trying to run, treadmill, street, but am finding the transition so hard.

I've been given a Garmin Forerunner 305, nice friend, and been told to read Running Made Easy - which basically advises that my 'out the door, run until I keel over' approach isn't going to get me there! So, I need to pace it follow a programme and build up - yes?

I can't work out how to set-up this garmin to help me with that. I want to programme in a run - walk - so many minutes at a time programme.

Does anyone know of an idiot guide for the likes of me to follow? I've got the running programme, but it's setting up this garmin is a bit beyond me! I'm reasonable tech able in general.

Thank you in advance if anyone can help me!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I can't work out how to set-up this garmin to help me with that. I want to programme in a run - walk - so many minutes at a time programme.

Mode ( button ) - Training - workouts - intervals - time / rest time - select time box then select from options - then select rest time if you want - then select reps if you want - Done..

Hope that helps and is indeed what you want
